I have to do it because of their high energy if I want a peaceful evening.I could not do that lol. I
They can get annoying very quickly.
The only place they are truly calm is in my vehicle or in bed at night.

Everything that should make a dog drowsy does not work for Bogie. Everything we have tried has the opposite effect.Benadryl which makes the evening peaceful.

It works for Bacall though.
When his ears were cropped and they dispensed pain meds, it had him acting like a wild crazy dog. Bacall rested peacefully. We’ve tried Hydroxyzine when he was scratching from poisonwood rash. It just amped him up, same with Benadryl and diazepam. CBD doesn’t work either. Thank goodness thunder and fireworks do not bother him because I would be at a loss for what to give him.
I have thought of trying valerian root.

You warned me about hunger pukes which was good because we avoided them completely, when we went to one meal a day, by slowly bringing his dinner time down an hour each day. So if he used to eat dinner at 5, we moved it to 4 and then 3, and so on until it all became breakfast. We vary his breakfast by just a few hours randomly. Weekdays he's likely to eat between 6 and 9, weekends have the biggest range from 7 to 12. Hopefully that is enough variety to avoid acid issues?Hunger pukes disappeared completely once their systems got used to it. We also fed the one feeding at random times to help the stomach not build up acid at the same time everyday in anticipation of food.
How much poundage are you feeding?
Yep! That's what we did. It makes it nice too to not have to be on an exact feeding time, knowing they won't puke. I always felt bad when they did until I figured it out. Plus, they aren't so demanding to be fed when they don't know when. You warned me about hunger pukes which was good because we avoided them completely, when we went to one meal a day, by slowly bringing his dinner time down an hour each day. My mom feeds on a pretty strict schedule and Abbey KNOWS...and she will let you know if you forgot by shortly barking at you if you walk past her kennel and go inside without feeding her that instant, lol.
This was like the cat before Kaiser. She knew the time and would prompt us for food by sitting in front of us and staring at us. Nowadays we are all on the Kaiser chaos scheduleMy mom feeds on a pretty strict schedule and Abbey KNOWS...and she will let you know if you forgot by shortly barking at you if you walk past her kennel and go inside without feeding her that instant, lol.![]()
