Fantastic male needs a good home, he was abandoned.

I am fostering a beautiful black/tan male and looking for a home, preferably local so I could possibly visit occasionally.
This dog is an absolute gem with a heart of gold. Wants to play with every dog he sees.
His owner had abandoned him, he's underweight but otherwise healthy and craves affection.
I would keep him but I already have a male & female and my male is quite protective of his mate.
I'm trying this forum first because I have met way too many new doberman owners that have no idea what they are getting into
and they end up getting re-homed. I've grown quite fond of him so I will do all I can to get him a home with a worthy owner.
I live in the east denver area. My name is Jim. Thanks for any help you can be.
This is an exceptional dog that responds to commands and deserves a great home.

What a beautiful boy...and his ears standing tells me he had a 'good start', but who knows how the rest of his story went.....just heartbreaking. God bless you for taking care of him right now!

Ahh, I wish I could take him, if I didn't have a male already. I'm in SW CO, near Durango. There are a couple of options--Colorado Doberman Rescue, and Saving Dobermankind (in Fountain, CO). I'd start by calling either of them to get on their adoption list, and you can continue to foster if that will work out for you. Otherwise, they'll place him in a foster in the general area and you could still visit him.

He looks to be a very nice dog. Have you checked for a microchip? I wonder if you might be able to somehow find out his breeding and get in touch w/ the breeder. If I were a breeder, I'd be horrified if one of the dogs I'd produced had been abandoned. You could also contact Doberman Pinscher Club of the Rocky Mt. Area to see if anyone w/ our state/area club can give you some direction.

Please let us know here how he fares.

I'm assuming your are fostering through a shelter organization? If not then what @Sunje suggested if you find your situation getting to be stressful with your own male dog. What a nice boy he seems to be. He looks to be fairly young as well? @Gpcoguy is in western Colorado I believe, perhaps he knows someone who has admired his Doberman...

@jim g are you looking for payment?
I assume no, but be aware there are weird folks who will adopt your rehome and then sell to make money.

I dont have good advice on how to screen those, but its another advantage of rehome to a dpca breed rescue or experienced dobe rescue like @Sunje suggested that might...if you get in a bind.

Good luck!

Any updates on this boy?

Is he chipped? Any idea what breeder he came from?

Good looking boy.
