For e-collar users, what length contact points do ya'll use? 3/8" or 5/8" ? Which has worked best with your Dobie?

Gosh I've never checked the size but I'm guessing 3/8" since they don't have a long coat and that should be all they need.

I also think the longer ones are more suited to a dog with a longer coat. Try the short ones and you should be able to see them making contact to the skin.

Bedja has a so called comfort part, I assume the bunge is for added comfort as it “gives” a little.
He rarely wears his e-collar more than two hours in one day these days at age 4. He got this when he was 9 months old and, well, in training.

It keeps the contacts in place. Without a bungee you would need to put the collar on loosely to allow for swelling during training. Typically during protection the dogs will swell up, similar to a pump up when in the weight room. A tight fitted collar will actually get even tighter during a session of protection. The bungee will keep the collar in place without becoming too tight. I can slip Blazes fur saver on easily before we train, when we come off the field I can barely get it back over his head. This also why I use a two box collar in training, it guarantees contact during an intense training session.

The problem that I am dealing with is we had been using the 5/8" with the wrong type of collar. I stopped using it when it started making burn marks on his neck. After reading, I thought it was both the length of the contact point and the collar not fitting properly. So, 5/8" should still be ok with a bungee collar and resolve that issue?

Burn marks? You mean just the hair rubbed out, or ? I'm pretty sure mine are 5/8" because I inherited the collar from the heavy haired Dutch Shepherd. I snug it up just under the jaw and sometimes it stays on for hours if I'm doing errands in town. No hard work like Doberman Gang was referring to, so never noticed swelling of the neck. I don't use it in training very much, mostly just to keep her from uncalled for nasty bark in public.

What is a "chest collar?" You have an e-collar that is situated on the dogs chest?
