Dry bumps on head/neck

unfortunately vet is booked until Wednesday. We have an appointment early and they said if concern raises that they can try to get us in sooner. She is 3 month old, one bump appeared on the Fourth of July, that we noticed. But today she has them all over the top of her head and some on her neck and ears. Dry raised bumps that are flaking. I've done some searching to see how serious it may be and seems pretty common but lots of different causes varying in seriousness. I know going to the vet is the best thing to do. Just worried about our poor girl. She rubs he head on the ground but unclear if it's for that reason, doesn't really seem to bother her. Need to post her ears but don't want it to be more irritating. There are a lot more than it appears.

Hmmm. Because they are spreading so quickly I would try to get her into the vet earlier, like before the weekend. I'm no expert but did you change anything? food, different posting tape, had the carpets cleaned, new detergent, fertilizer on the lawn, spraying for bugs around the house, recent vaccines?

no changes, we've had her for three weeks tomorrow and kept her on the same everything as far as I know. She had some shots but that was a week and a half ago. When changing her posting I was told to use antibacterial soap to wash ears (with wet cloth and I also use rubbing alcohol to clean inside). I wait for them to be completely dry before posting again. But wondering if that has anything to do with it. When I was explaining to the receptionist at the best she questioned if the baby oil to take her tape off is causing her to have a heat rash. I've just read so many different causes with similar pictures. I am very concerned about it spreading as well. Vet office told me they are already overbooked for tomorrow. I could try to bring her in but no promises on being seen promptly

My dobbie had something very similar at around 3 months. It went from the top of the head to her back. It was bumps. Flaky bumps. No puss. It ended up being that she was allergic to the food she was eating. Iams. We changed her food and she got better. The bumps went away and her hair and skin are very healthy !!!!

The bumps could be an age-related problem, as in the puppy pimples. Quite common. Possibly a staph infection, the skin is usually biopsied and/or cultured to confirm the diagnosis. Staph pyoderma can progress and should be treated as soon as possible. Bacterial infections are often secondary to another problem, so the possibility of parasitic infections or allergies.

What are you currently feeding her? It could be a simple change of diet that's needed. She could be presenting an allergic reaction to
one of more of the ingredients in her food. Beef? Chicken? Corn?...

Staph pyoderma can progress and should be treated as soon as possible. Bacterial infections are often secondary to another problem, so the possibility of parasitic infections or allergies.

She is being fed nutri source puppy food. Which is what breeder had her on as well as they were mixing with canidae pure sea. We haven't purchased the pure sea yet. And then she eats rice and chicken about once a week.

I wonder if it could be an allergic reaction from getting into the cats food(which is in a room and our room is typically blocked off with the occasional her sneaking in and going straight for it) she's also been chewing on our sunflowers lately... the possibilities seem endless

That is a very good possibility and if they're slowing down it might have been a one time thing when she got into something that didn't agree with her.

This has slipped my mind and now I'm wondering When we went to the vet for her routine visit and shots (6/27/17) they gave us a dose of sentinel spectrum. I just looked in the pamphlet to look at side affects and skin congestion is one of them. I don't believe I gave it to her until the 30th or so. They also gave us a dose of nexguard but I decided to wait to give it to her to make sure she didn't have a reaction from the first one. I'm wondering even if it could've been a delayed reaction or maybe we didn't notice them right away. Unfortunately we still haven't made it into the vet.

True, very true. Just hate waiting right now. I'm going to call vet tomorrow morning and going to see if they will squeeze us in in the morning. Bumps are still present, no longer spreading but really just wanting an answer and treatment.

On places where he can't lick you can put hydro-cortisone cream.
If you have applied any topical flea and tick it could be a reaction to that also. I don't know but I'm guessing it could even be flea bites

Reactions from shots can have a wide range of a time frame. From immediate to yes 1yr. From date of vaccination! These reactions can range from anaphylactic shock to causing the immune system to react to a food or environmental allergy or just an intolerance food protein or other ingredient or preservative. Or even causing an auto immune disorder!
Most vets will not make the connection if it's not an immediate reaction.

What ended of being the issue and the solution. I have about to be a 3 month old and he appears to have the same thing.

It has been awhile since I have been on the forum due to many factors. Anyway, My Dobie, Remi has had this same issue since about 1 month after I brought her home. I brought her home in August and by October she was covered in these little white, raised, flakey bumps. She had many issues from day 1. I have tried raw feeding, Orijen, Victor's, Bil Jack's finally settling on Stella and Chewy's Raw freeze dried Surf and Turf mixed with raw venison, occasional egg or sardines. I have done the surgical scrub baths (never see any difference), monthly summer (May thru Sept) steroid injections (although this helped with the raised bumps, scratching and licking) I do believe this caused urinary incontinence while she was sleeping mostly during the night. Of course, the vet (2 actually) recommended Apoquel. I refused that after reading advice from some of the pros here on the forum. And for the incontinence another medication was prescribed. I did use that for about 1 month, thinking the incontinence was unavoidable due to the spaying. I do not like to take medications and do not like to give them to my sweet dobie unless absolutely medically necessary. I stopped the incontinence med and steroid injections and incontinence has resolved, thankfully. Remi will be 4 months on May 25, and we are still battling these "bumps" scratching and licking. Life has not been easy during these past 4 years, due to my crazy work hours, (thanks covid), losing my brother to metastatic lung cancer (again, thank covid), and family drama. And although my girl has been the best companion for me, I feel horrible that I have not been able to get her the relief I know she needs. This issue does seem to be more exaggerated during the summer months, which has led me to believe its environmental Something in the grass in my back yard. We spend alot of time outside during the summer, I thought this week that it could possibly be the Burweed (which we have been trying to eliminate). I've even tried CBD oil. All that to say, I am starting a new journey to get her healthy (relief) and myself as well. Hopefully I will be able to transition her to complete raw and myself to a better diet.
