doberman pup final update

My boy went to his new home today, I won't lie I'm not taking it well. Putting him in the car and watching them drive off was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do. I am honestly heartbroken, but I know it's for the best.

A family friend ended up taking him, I spoke about him in my past posts and I said he wasn't able to take him but things changed. He has a huge yard with lots of land and another doberman, his doberman is a male but I'm not too worried about them not getting along, my boy is very submissive and he's lived with other male dogs.

I know this is for the best but I'm so sad, I feel like I've failed him. I know he's scared and confused right now but I hope he adjusts. Technically I can come visit him but it feels cruel to visit him then leave again, so I think it's for the best if he forgets me.

I love this dog so much, I hate that I wasn't able to give him what he needs. Thank you to everyone for giving me advice over the past month, I hope I made the right decision. Here's some of my favorite pictures of him, I'll love you always sweet boy

I'm glad you found a home you're comfortable with and I know it has to be extremely difficult to let him go. Hopefully they will keep you updated on how he's doing and that same sex aggression doesn't become a thing as he matures.

The pic of him with the stuffies is just adorable. The fact that he's with a family friend is reassuring because you know the new owner will be a good one and if you wanted, you could visit. It's pretty ideal considering the alternatives. You'll adjust and so will he.

It's a painful decision. 💔 I hope it works out for both of them. Was there any plan for the future if this doesn't work out? Same sex aggression doesn't usually appear until both are mature. I am hoping for the best for all involved! :fingersx:

I am sorry for your heartbreak....I hope that your friend will continue to keep you in the loop as to how he adjusts...
Thanks for the update!

If they don’t get along he will probably end up coming back here, but I don’t really have a plan past that. I got an update last night and so far they are getting along well and playing together, so hopefully things stay that way!

You made the right choice, IMHO.
Good job for putting the dog first.
Dogs dont grieve like humans do. They pretty much live in the moment which is another good lesson for us, too.
Now you focus on you so you'll have the extra time as needed, later.
There will be many more wonderful dogs in your life ahead.
