Is he vomiting as well? If so, just give him a few sips of water every few hrs. Not a whole bowl full- it will just come back up until the meds are in the system.
We went through vomit, diarrhea, blood in stool and dehydration twice this yr. once for drinking stagnant water and the other time for getting into a poisonous plant that gave her an allergic reaction. Awful both times they get dehydrated rather quickly when coming out both ends.
