Critters and wildlife in your area - post your pics

this Hawk came flying past me almost at eye level. At first it almost looked like he was coming straight at me!
I don't know the official name, but we called them Sparrow Hawks - they'd nab any songbird off a feeder by the house.
I’ve rarely seen a Fox Squirrel
That's a new one for me! Never saw a squirrel like that with a white face! It's so fun to see something new!

Although they are native to the area, I’ve rarely seen a Fox Squirrel
Wow, isn't she interesting looking! I've never seen one here either.

The one I'd like to get a picture of is the black squirrel. The first time I saw one was in Colorado. Then one day, years ago I saw them at my sister's house, who was only about 5 minutes away from me as the crow flies. She had a lot of them, including babies that I saw a climbing up and down the trees! I never saw one here until about a year ago. I was coming up the drive when I spotted one out front. But he was gone before I knew it. I was pretty excited seeing that was the first time I've seen them here. It's always interesting to see something different that you're not used to seeing.

And Honestly, I don't know if it's because of Annie or the number of trees that we had to cut down out front, but I haven't seen very many squirrels recently! 🤷‍♀️

I had Olive out for a potty break at the hotel last weekend and a grey squirrel came by and climbed up a tree near us. I don't think she had a clue that it was a squirrel since we only have the little red jerks around here who dart around so fast.

We just saw humming birds today feeding on our hanging baskets on the deck. I am amazed that a praying mantis could get one! I would be appalled to see that!

But he can have the wasp.

We had an exciting few moments, today!

I was just lounging on the patio, eating my sandwich (with a Moose audience) and I saw a little blur of fur out the corner of my eye and Rubie in pursuit. "Another dumb bunny" I think to myself.

They circle around from behind the lilacs and back across the yard. It's a baby fox! I say baby... likely 4-6 months old by this time of year?

Rubie did get a tumble on him but he popped right back up and was a quick little guy. He managed to get through the fence to safety. Whole thing lasted like 6 seconds but there was 0.5 seconds when she got that tumble on him when I was like, "welp, guess I'm getting bit today" thinking I'd have to pull a terrified wild animal out of her mouth with one hand while saving my sandwich in the other. I do love a good sandwich.

No bloodshed, today! He ran away and dingo was jazzed but otherwise fine.

Screen shot from our camera but that sure is a Moose escorting the baby off the premises.

I almost had to hit funny because of that. :D

We have at least 6 fox kits around the yard this year but I don't know if they're all out of the same mom or more than one.
