We have had a ton of turkeys in the yard now that's it's breeding season. They just started a hunting season up here about 5 years ago and it was by lottery only. Now that there are so many they've changed it so anyone can get a tom only license.

Are they Easterns there? We have Merriam's and I think there are Rio Grandes in the eastern part of Colorado

I honestly don't know. My Merlin app just says wild turkey.
Yeah, during breeding season he would just gobble back at them. LOL
I thought it was pretty cool when I saw this one last year.
But then I remembered how many machines I have to keep plastic tarps over when not in use because of birds getting in the shop and pooping on them...
Blew my mind that that bird would come up to that particular machine like that while I was using it. That machine is pretty loud all by itself but it is generally always used with the dust collector on that is right next to it and that thing is even louder!
I have never had a Doberman that was not stupid easy to quickly desensitize to any and all sorts of sounds I could toss its way.
People don't appreciate this Doberman trait / characteristic until they find themselves trying the same stuff with other breeds of dog and see them flip out as soon as the vacuum gets turned on...
So last night I was out with the dogs when I noticed this on my little Wren birdhouse.
I'm like, holy crap, what the heck is that?!
So I took a picture and did a Google search on it and found this!

This is from a guy who lives very near here. He keeps his trail cameras up year round so he catches a lot more than us.

Im just realizing, that bear's markings are strikingly similar to Doberman ones, and these two girls are expecting me to sleep beside them in my bed?This is from a guy who lives very near here. He keeps his trail cameras up year round so he catches a lot more than us.

It'll be 10 years in August since I've been at this location and saw with my own eyes my first bear yesterday! We were walking on the main road and it was right in the middle of the road on top of a hill. It was only about a 2 second glimpse, then it took off down a slope and disappeared. Asha never saw it, and as soon as I did I called her to me, put the leash on then got the phone out of my pocket to record. It was funny how she got the scent, and was immediately "on alert", but when we got past where it was, she was back to normal. I'll post a video in the video thread later...
It seems the red-headed woodpecker is a rarity around here. I don't always get to see him at my suet feeders. He's so beautiful but very skittish so getting a picture is always hard. I had to go through the window and creep up on him LOL not the best but I love to get a glimpse of him!
