Brought home our new pup :)

This is our new puppy, Moby. He is an 8-week-old rescue and he is so smart, sweet with the kids, smart, friendly, loving, affectionate and smart. I am so excited to start obedience and eventually therapy work with him.

Rescue? What's his story? He's got a really sweet face, makes you just wanna squish it with kisses!

Thank you!
He and his siblings were the result of an accidental litter. It's my understanding that the owner turned over both mama and pups to the shelter when they were only a few days old. They ended up being separated and bottle-fed as the mother would not take care of the pups and began going after them. :(

He sure is a cutie!! Poor mama and babies! So glad they have a happy ending the! Can't wait to see more of Moby and watch her grow, so handsome! They are an incredible breed, and as you mentioned, smart! You'll have tons of fun with him!

Adorable! Fun times ahead for you and your family.
Being a rescue, is he already neutered? I hope for his sake, you were allowed to choose a more appropriate age to have it done.

What a sweet baby! He's just adorable :) Be careful about taking him to parks until he's done with his vaccinations though.

Thanks!
Yes we haven't gone to any parks...just my kids' school grounds but there are no other dogs there.

The shelter's policy is to neuter prior to adoption but they allowed for an exception in Moby's case. Provided we don't see any adverse behavioral issues, we will be waiting a while.

We had a large breed rescue mix years ago who underwent total hip replacement surgery due in part to, his ortho said, his early neuter.
The surgery failed and we decided never again with the early neuter if possible. Thankfully we adopted from an aMAZing rescue that was willing to work with us :)

That's fantastic! So many shelters won't let a pup go without being neutered and it's so unhealthy for bone and joint development. I believe my old girl's hip and knee issues were to blame on an 8 week spay.

GREAT news! Stay on the training and you shouldn't have any problems. My male is 5 years old and intact. Most people are surprised to find out that he is not neutered. They say he doesn't act like an intact dog. I say he acts like a trained dog. :)

Congrats on your handsome boy!! I'm so glad the shelter didn't neuter him at 8 weeks! Ohmigosh, that's young! I'm all for neutering but, geez, that's WAY too early. Just a baby for crying out loud! Have fun with him! And take lots of pictures! They grow so fast!

Congrats, what a cutie! :congrats: Take lots of pics because they grow up so fast and of course we love seeing them.

Do you plan to have his ears cropped? If so we can offer lots of help with the aftercare.

I have been reading all the forums and I have seen a lot of threads on it but absolutely not, no way. We love him just the way God made him.:love:
