Bottom teeth - do they look normal?

Hey dobie peeps!

Just recently we started noticing Vinci’s breath having that distinct blood/metallic smell. And of course after looking inside his mouth, there’s blood on his gums. He just turned 2 last month and we brush his teeth at least twice a week and I’m not sure if these are early signs of gum disease or other dental disease.

Also, do his bottom teeth look normal? They look sort of pushed in, if that makes sense. Wish we took pictures of what they used to look like, I’m pretty sure they didn’t look like this. I’ve already emailed his vet to see if it’s something he needs to be seen for. Posting this to see if anyone has any insight or if you’ve ever experienced this with their dobie.

It does look like his gums are swollen so it's probably not as much his teeth but the gums making the teeth look that way.

What a handsome boy!

For attention. Ha!

Re: The bottom incisors: Those are, in my experience, always crooked, and not just on Dobes. I don't know why.

He is a handsome boy, his bottom incisors don't look much different to our boys, like @ Oh Little Oji commented don't know why, maybe have his gums checked they do look a little swollen, maybe cut back on brushing his teeth for a while to see if it helps his gums.

Rose's bottom teeth
That's the way our dogs teeth look too.
his vet wants to get him tested for vWD.. wish us luck!
Do you not know his parents status on vWD? He's not going to be affected if one is clear and one is a carrier or both are clear. It's possible if both parents are carriers but not always.

Most of use do our own vWD tests with a mouth swab through places like VetNostic or Vetgen and it's way cheaper than letting your vet do it.

No, we adopted him from my brother-in-law who got him from a “well-known” breeder here in Washington. All he got was a piece of paper with some hand-written notes about his parents.

Well, wish I had known about that before his appointment today because his vet bill was close to $700 LOL (thank goodness for pet insurance)

He is handsome, I wouldn't be surprised if he came from a reputable breeder! Maybe the paperwork was lost or forgotten. If might be possible to reach out the breeder for his history, pedigree and other information.

Good God. To look at teeth & gums? You can get an entire DNA panel (includes vWD) done for about $150 with a saliva swab. I guess you got blood work done too. Let us know what the vet comes up with.
Love that photo of Vinci in the snow.
