Can anyone help here fast.

Keela is unspayed and for the last 2 days has had milk from her nipples. Today all her nipples are really hard and swollen. It feels like footballs under the skin.

when you squeeze them there is pus, blood and milk. She is finding it sore to walk.

She has the vet tomorrow at 9am. what can we do?? whats wrong with her?

PLease dont tell me its because she unspayed. I mean dont lecture me on it.

UPDATE

yeah shes been fine. She was a bit off today, but otherwise fine,

Cass tried to mount her earlier and she yelped. This is when i checked her.

The last four teats are solid. There is blood, milk and pus from them. I tried a warm compress on them and lightly squeezing them but it didnt make much difference.

She justs kind of looks sad and in pain and is wandering back and forth, She can jump onto the bed and sofa but only just.

Hmmm wonder when the vet will call back?

UPDATE
yeah vet called back at 11.30pm. SHe asked about Keela so i gave her the detaisl. The reply was " so she hasnt collapsed or anything?" I said no but she is clearly in pain.

The vet then said Its nearly midnight now, you can come in if you want but it will be £250 call out( money was no issue, we want her better) and we can draw bloods.

Or come at 9am which i think will be better since she is eating and hasnt collapsed.

That basically ended the convo.

She has been ok over night. I used warm compresses and sat for 3 hours squeezing crap from the teats to give her some relief.

She is still in bed now and hasnt been to go potty since 6 pm last night.

We leave for our regular vet in an hour.

TBH i dont think it will be good news. I was thouroughly checking her over las night and under the skin there is a few small lumps and bumps. I will not put her through cancer treatments etc, she started life hard with demodex for nearly a year and I am not having her suffer ending her life.

If she needs operated on for the teat problem then thats fine.

I feel so bad though , shes my baby. My first baby of fur and human kind. She was the one there for me all the time.

Last night we just sat and hugged. Im so tired and upset. I want my baby better.

UPDATE
we are back.

They checked her over and thought it wasnt to serious as of yet,

They said she was in a lot of pain though

They have taken a sample and I will get the results tomorrow.

In the meantime, I have to try and release milk, blood, pus 3 x a day and put a hot compress on her. They have given her antibiotics and we will find out tomorrow if these are the proper ones.

She does have a few growths which could be tumors which we knew about but i opted not to get these checked out. If she is ever in any pain it will likely be from a cancer and the vet is willing to let us treat with pain killers. Hopefully that will be a while away though

She weighed in at 75lbs. I think a diet just might be needed for her LOL

UPDATE
We took her to the vet about a year ago regarding 2 small lumps she had. We were told they could be some thing they could be nothing. These lumps haven't changed at all.

Keela is not a dog that can tolerate pain. she likes her luxuries and is quiet and laid back. To leave her in a vet over night would kill her.
She started her life for the first 2 years hard. she had constant biopsy and surgeries for what was thought to be demodex. she had a completely bald face and head and one point with sores everywhere.
From these days onwards I always said that i would never ever put her through anything painful again.

Its not looking good for her though. I think my poor baby is on deaths door and the vet was just being nice to me becasue i was upset.
I have a feeling these antibiotics arent' going to work.

She has a swollen left leg now too so the signs are all bad. She is sleeping on my knee just now after having a tramadol and anti biotic.

I will give her a few days on the meds then take her back to the vet and ask straight out what the prognosis is.

I just dont know what to do. I think its way to late for surgery and I really dont want her in any discomfort, but at the same time i cant leave her like this and i dont want to loose her. Keela is my world.

I keep thinking that maybe she had something to do with us getting a pup 6 months earlier than planned and as a kind of spir of the moment thing to do.

ack ! Poor thing that sounds sooo painful.. Hoping to hear something positive soon ! let us know, give her lots of kisses and hugs

My goodness this has been quite a process... I'm very sorry to hear how things have progressed. We will certainly send possative thoughts and vibes your way and please keep us informed.

sounds like she has a milkinfection, i remember my personal doctor gave me a tip to put cold cottagecheese in a kitchentowl and put on the breast it will realese the pain and the infection and try to get the milk out, easy for a human, since we got a milkpimp, don't know how to do it with a dog.
i'm sorry to hear that Lynz, hope she is getting better soon.

did your vet give you any indication of what the issue is? any formal prognosis?
any talk of mastitis? or just a general abscess?

we are treating for suspected mastitis but appears more like Inflammatory Carcinoma. at the most 25 days to live. Im not even 100% how long they have been there. at least 2 days.

I just feel so sick and cant stop crying,.

aww Lynz, i really don't know wat to say or to do. just can send good vibes your way and hope everything works out. Big hugs to you.

OMG I am so sorry!! Poor Keela, I hope you can keep her comfortable, the poor girl has had a rough time of it from the start!! I can't imagine how you must be feeling and I wish there was something I could do or say but I am completely stunned by this!! It is all so sudden and so fast!! :bearhug:

I am so sorry to read this ! It came on so fast! What a worry for you. Please keep us updated on Keela. We all will be pulling for her. Hugs to you!!

samples are not back from the vet yet. Wont be until monday that we hear now.

She is a bit better today. the swelling is going down quite a bit. The nipple is back in its normal place but is still red and swollen, but is much better.

She has a swelling where the elbow joint is on her left hind leg. The vet is not sure wether this is anything to do with the infection or if it has something to do with me holding her leg yesterday to clip and dremmel her nails or if its been hurt in the car going to the vet( she doesnt travel well).

At the moment though she is better. eating and drinking and barking at Cayden.

Im not convinced all is well yet as its evenings it appears worse.

Thanks for all the good vibes they are much appreciated.

Oh hun I feel so bad right now for what you all are going thru. I am keeping you all in my thoughts and hope she gets better soon. Please keep us posted. On a side note, and I don't know if it may help, when I had my first metastasis tumor on my leg my oncologist had me put cold raw cabbage leaves on it. It helped relieve the pressure and the pain, and draw out any infection. I have done it ever since for any of my surface cancers, it works fairly well.
