“Housebroken” dog going in house

You might not live alone. You might have a family that can help. That’s great for you. You might not have to support yourself. Also awesome. But your situation isn’t everyone’s and attacking someone online who you don’t even KNOW, because you disagree with putting a dogs nose in its mess is just absolutely crazy. I came her for help with a solution, not to have you insult me and say I should just give up on her.

Rubbing a dogs nose in their mess is old school. NO one does that anymore because we now know that it is ineffective! Dogs do not understand what that is! The only thing you can do is catch them in the ACT, say NO! and take them outdoors immediately, give them a key word (go potty, make, or whatever word you choose to use) and then have a 'party' when they do!!

Although I do think the proper use of a e collar is better then physically hitting the dog and putting its face in its own poo.

How were you intending on using an e-collar instead of putting her face in her mess?? I mean, what did you think you were going to do? Come home and shock her when you find a mess?? Please explain.

I totally understand that! Most of the regular members on here, we "know" pretty well. You can tell a lot from a person through a lot of discussions! But I understand, being a new member that you are cautious. That's a good way to be. But if you ever needed help from a member, you can always do as what was suggested....meet at a police station. No need to give out an address. And @Tropicalbri's is a respected member of our family, a Vet Tech and VERY knowledgeable! Yo don't know know her from Adam, I know, but others can vouch for her.

We actually had a member meet up for an 'exchange' just recently. Check out this post! A very happy ending due to another respected member! (and also a Mod here~! )

I apologize for the formatting it’s not letting me quote, I hit quote and nothing happens.

I wanted to help you with that............

When you highlight a portion of a post to quote and hit on "Quote" you probably are not seeing anything 'happen' because its sort of a 'silent' thing. You can do as many quotes as you want and then when you are ready to post and go down to the post box, you will see a button on the bottom left that says, Insert Quotes. When you hit that, all the quotes that you wanted to reply to will be there. You can delete them individually by hitting Remove or hit 'Quote these messages " and they will all go into the post box for you to reply.

@DobermangoneRogue please re-read your initial post. You said you were ready to give her to the pound if you couldn't find solutions. You said you have potty issues, chewing issues, and barking issues. Your solution to the potty issue was rub her nose in it and smack her, that you had no one who could let her out. Your solution to the barking was to not crate her. Your solution to the chewing was bitter apple spray. You tried a trainer but didn't want that person's advice and instead of finding a different trainer when that one quit or finding a dog club to train at you just stopped.
Your next post stated that you were to far away from the Dobe rescue, so Pet Finder would be better.
Your 3rd post was a refusal of a member offering help in getting her to the Dobe Rescue because you were uncomfortable giving a stranger your address which was understandable. It was then offered to meet you at a police station, so you would feel safe. You said no one was able to give you answers to your problem. You were given answers you just didn't like them.
Then you post how well you are taking care of your Dobe and tell us you are feeding Blue Buffalo, a very poor kibble, and how you don't have help from anyone to let her out when you're gone and others on this forum do. Then you actually say you were going to put her on Pet Finder for free. I would think that common sense would prevail here and you would realize how much everyone on this forum loves Dobermans and were responding to everything you wrote. You don't have to take all of the very good advice that you have been offered, you can keep making excuses for everything that goes wrong, or you can become part of this community and learn a ton about the care and well being of our breed. Everyone is always willing to share their knowledge and tips!

I’ve read every post. Through my tears. I’m praying this sweet Dobie girl is ok. I truly wish she’d have taken the offer to meet the awesome member who offered to meet her at a police station to get this baby to a rescue.
