Normally it would be great, no worries about "exploring"! I'm teaching little Vader to walk on the leash(he's just over 9 weeks), and he does GREAT when we are heading towards home, running mostly! But heading away from home he whines, sits, turns around to face home, lays down facing home...
Me too. When I got my last dobe he was a rescue. I wasn't sure what type of dog I would get. All I had was his birthdate and breed type when I picked him. Never thought about showing since I had no papers for him. Now fast forward to a better internet and I started looking at all the different...
Went and had our consult with the vet that will be cropping his ears. I was so relieved when she started talking! She has been doing it for over 20 years, uses a laser, and her style she had in mind was exactly mine!! It will be next week.
True. My last one was pretty stable after 3 years. At 1 he was still lanky and lean, a 2 he was still lanky but filling out with muscle, at 3 he was tall and thick, but with muscle. He stayed the same until way later in life.
My wife's lab Barley s almost 15 and what we thought was docile. He is very toy dominant now that Vader is here. If Vader even looks at a toy across the room, Barley will growl and snap at him and run over and grab the toy. He will nearly attack when they are close, so lots of intervention so far.
The HI-PRO Plus isn't grain free, but it's still really good and was suggested as a puppy food for the first 4-6 months, then switch to the grain free ALS kind.
Slowly switching from Purina to the Victor. He's eating a cup and a half 3 times a day and is eating all of it, so at dinner I gave him 2 cups. He ate all of that too, and was looking for more!
How loose are the stools when feeding this? I think a little would be good, but the article says to work up to a tsp per 10lbs of dog per day. A tsp of coconut oil per 10lbs of dog body weight seems like a ton of oil in a diet to me.
Haha, my last one stopped immediately when I made a painful sucking sound once. No idea why that worked permanently when NO, mouth holding, walking away, etc. for weeks on end didn't!!
My wife's dog stopped when she turned into a werewolf on him one day and SCREAMED at the top of her lungs...
My hands are turning into raw hamburger! That phase.... My little guy Vader is 8 weeks and has been here for a day and a half. So far I have been patient and have been pretty soft with him, redirecting, soft NO's and push away, etc... Tomorrow my Alpha will out, and no biting will be tolerated!
6 weeks? Are they even eating solid foods yet?? I thought the purpose of 8 weeks was to be sure that they were. I just picked up my little guy at 8 weeks and a day or 2 and his mom was DONE with the puppies! She cared, but not all that much. None were allowed near her belly!
I have the AKC #'s for the parents, I can check in the future. I met both, they seemed to me to be a mix of US/Euro to me. Both were large bodied, but had the US head and legs. No pigeon chest! The father is black and rust, with a little black on the feet but not much. Whatever melanism his dad...
Thanks! He's pretty sweet.....so far! My wife and I are only bleeding in a few spots so far, so it's a good start! He plays, plays, plays, then drags a toy to his crate and lays right down :)
Here's one that shows his blackness a bit more. No visible bowtie, back feet are black.
