That has been our experience and I appreciate them picking the right pup for our plans for him/her. I have heard a few people who are unhappy because they can't just go there and pick out their own pup but the breeder has been with them for at least 7 or 8 weeks and knows each pup much better...
I have heard the same thing for UKC and that those titles don't mean anything, but that's simply not true with all of the competition. I have never been to an IABCA show so I can't comment on that.
How many days since he was neutered? If your going on over a week, you might not have to keep him as restricted. I know many vets say 10 - 14 days but I think that's just to be on the safe side.
I've considered bringing Olive along to try it too but I still have no idea if the interest would be there or not. We have so much of the real thing for her to chase that she might look at me like Della did and say "what are you thinking wanting me to chase a plastic bag?" LOL
Our first Doberman was the biggest challenge I have ever experienced in any dog we've had, including a Boxer with attitude.
He had zero socialization or experience with different things since the vet even came to her place for things like ear crops and such. The breeder flat out said that she...
Well that's too bad that the vet put him on that since it really isn't needed after a simple neuter. I would get a second opinion from another vet so you can stop giving him all of those meds.
And that is what drives me insane with the breed and some other breeds as well. GSDs are a good example and many of those dogs are unable to do what they were bred for and the temperaments are getting terrible.
I know it's a different venue, but our UKC club was approved for precision coursing and lure coursing this year and there is a show coming up in October that's about 45 minutes from here.
That's what I've heard about AKC being more accessible in states to our south but in MN and WI there are a ton more UKC shows. There used to only be one AKC show/year in the area but now there are a few more clubs who have started having shows.
I don't know of any UDC shows within a few states...
This is one of the things I love about the UKC atmosphere.
If you've spent any time at a UKC event, you've probably experienced it.
Someone you've never met offers you a chair because yours broke.
A fellow exhibitor hands you the bait you forgot to pack.
Someone watches your dog...
Yes they would be the South American lines and I personally think they are a nice balance between the sometimes bulky Euros and the sometimes too delicate North Americans. Both of these dogs have SA lines and Elroy definitely has that massive neck.
They say that SAs are definitely the most...
I would like to do that with Olive too since she is pretty rock solid on everything. Elroy is too but he's not a great traveler and I believe the nearest ones they have are at least 4 hours away.
