After trying certain supplements with no improvement, I reached out to the Thoroughbred community as anhidrosis isn’t uncommon in the breed and hoped there would be someone to shed light on a miracle unknown cure and I’m hoping/believing I found just that. It’s a product called Equiwinner non transdermal patches, ten patches that each one must be worn for 24 hours then changed out for a new one ten consecutive days in a row. The science behind it is pretty incredible, somehow it resets the way the body regulates electrolytes and as a result cures a number of ailments, and revitalizes the entire horse. At least that’s my understanding in a nut shell. Although it is not meant for humans, us and horses are the only mammals that sweat the same way… I wonder if something like this wouldn’t be beneficial for ourselves? Anyway, today will mark day three. Yesterday somehow he had managed to lose his patch by the time I came to change it, but the barn owner said it was still on for breakfast so it wasn’t missing for too long. I contacted the company and they said it’s fine but in the event he keeps losing them they will send me more, and also recommended adding duct tape. I am so hoping this works, as he is huffing and miserable whenever I go to see him.
The first photo is when I arrived, and then the others after I groomed and hosed him down. He is always visibly happier after that. The white marks are his horsey sunscreen that also doubles as a wound/hair regrowth and a young boy living outside there are bound to be regular scrapes.
