Advice Needed for my sick puppy

Kenya

New Member
Advice Needed. My 8 month young puppy has been vomitting three days, won't eat or drink. He's becoming weaker each day.
Holiday season: Vet does not open until tomorrow. Hope they can fit him in ... meantime he needs nourishment. I tried rice and boiled chicken to no avail.

I've read about blockage and other possibilities ... I believe I've covered and read most remedies and I do understand it takes a professional Vet with your professional dollars of which I don't have for an emergency Vet ... so I need advice until I can take him in tomorrow where payment is on time schedule.

Thank you in advance for reading prior to your response.

I would make him some bone broth. It's very easy to do. If his condition get worse I highly recommend getting him to the e-vet...

That sounds like it may be a blockage which is life threatening. You need to get to the emergency vet asap.

What color is his vomit? Has he defacated recently?
Does he have a temp?
What is his demeanor/attitude like?
Is he alert and responsive or is he lethargic?
Is his stomach painful if you palpate it?
What has he been exposed to in terms of food, toys, plants, household items?

I agree with everyone else. As much as you don't want to or may not have the money to...sounds to me that an emerg vet is needed at this point. Especially since you are seeing him go downhill in energy. Not worth the risk to wait! Vomiting for 3 days straight is not good. I would apply for care credit so you can make payments. Veterinary Financing | Healthcare Financing | CareCredit

I'm sorry to hear she's going through this but it does indeed sound very serious. I agree that the emergency vet would be in order and it's possible they might let you pay in parts, but they all vary.

Keep us posted.

I know what it's like for money to be tight (like TIGHT!!!), but three days is a long time with no eating/drinking. I hope you can get her to an emergency vet. Is she still having the same symptoms (any worsening or improvement?)

Sorry to hear of these scary troubles!

If you are looking for what's best for the health of the pup, I would certainly advise a trip to the emergency vet. It's up to you of course. I mean that with all sincerity. I know what it's like to have next to no money. Putting food in the humans' mouths and a roof over their heads is pretty darn important too.

Wish you the best, and your pup a quick recovery!

He's resting. Nothing definitive found. Given: IV (office and home), lite meds, and a follow up in two days.
And thanks Ares, my first move was purchasing red snapper for broth. This was the first thing she keep down in 3 days. I am so grateful for this.

Thanks again all.

I'm very glad it helped :) I hope for a smooth recovery :)

Glad to hear he was able to be seen and received fluids. Hope for continued improvement ! Keep us updated :)

Sad to hear about your dobe
But let me ask you , did you check the stool before or while she was sick.. Was there any signs of blood in it?
How does her gums or eye lids look? They should be bubble gum pink. Try gently pressing her abdomen n see her reaction. Does it hurt does she cry out. I would advice you to refrain from force feeding her anything fatty ... Fluids with electrolytes or glucose would be fine as of now..... N keep her body clean.. You can wipe her with a damp cloth.
Waiting for your updates
