Aww so sorry to hear that...Unfortunately my cat is not doing well recently and I think it will be “his time” soon, so I’ve been trying to stay home and keep an eye on him.

That's exactly how Asha was for a long time.
I feel better knowing you went through a similar thing with Asha and were able to resolve it!She wouldn't retrieve anything because once she got it, she wanted to own it forever. So, yeah, I get it. I worked on it a lot though because I planned to do IGP and knew I had to fix it. I wish I had videos before she started behaving, but once the lightbulb came on, she realized it was just a more fun version of keep away, me keeping her away by command and then she gets it back with more action.
That’s basically what I’m doing with Remy at home right now. I know he loves to play so we do, I just hope I’m not making too many mistakes that will be hard to fix once we get back to club training.Since I realized a few years ago that I'd be hard pressed to actually trial in IGP, we just play with tugs and do some bite work for Asha to have fun.
That’s funny. I wonder what it is they love about it lol. It's interesting, Ashas favorite ball is also the yellow Starmark.
Thank youNo apologies needed for ranting, I love seeing you work with Remy, good, bad, or ugly - we've all been there!
Yeah! I would reward him right away from any kind of decent speed! Then you can start layering multiple position changes in before reward. Another thing you can do at home is backtie him and tease him with the toy to get a bark, reward for it. You ideally want to hear a deep bark vs high pitched. If he already barks easily enough, withhold the toy either by hiding it or holding it to your side and start counting barks! Reward when he reaches a new high score.I think I’ve been doing what you’re describing! I’ll add a video so you can see. It took me a second to realize that he slipped, otherwise I wouldn’t have asked for a sit right then lol. (Vertigo warning for @Ravenbird again, it’s just easier to “outrun” him in circles.)
You can do the chase game like earlier when building drive during obedience with your reward here too by having him miss a couple attempts to build frustration and encourage fuller grips.Oh its so much fun and you'll learn A LOT. A lot to prepare you for your next one and a lot about him! This makes me feel a bit better! I’m hoping to at least get his BH one day. I know we won’t be able to get his 1 unless we can make it to club training consistently, but even if we can’t title I know he’ll have fun training!
And even opens it for Elroy! They respect the gate but Olive always show me that it's effortless to jump it if someone is coming in that she really wants to see.
This morning she brought part of her blanket (she tore it in two You telling her the boxes were not for her, I was sure she was understanding everything you said!I've been trying to wrap family Christmas gifts this morning and I've got several boxes laying around. If any of you remember when Annie first came home with us, boxes were her thing! LOL she loved to play with them, carry them around and eventually tear them up.This morning she brought part of her blanket (she tore it in two
) over to where I was wrapping and started poking around with some of the boxes. This is what ensued
The bag is lifeLove his enthusiasm!!!
