Random Pet Photo of the Day - 2025

What are those?
Monkey balls, they’re massive green ones and when they open red and white goop comes out. They get run over a lot on the roads around here. The proper name I am not sure, googling now. lol

They used to gross me out as a kid because of the red and white inside, we called them monkey brains.

Here they are!

Interesting! We obviously don't have them here but I find some of that stuff to our south fascinating. I saw some pretty cool stuff when I was training in southern GA but we were strictly forbidden to take any photos, even though I had 2 cameras with me.

I was thinking that too when I posted that some wouldn’t know what they are. I’ll get some close photos for you this week. They’re all over the place at the moment.

We have the small brown spiked ones in our yard unfortunately, they hurt! We also call those monkey balls, sweet gum tree - annoying!

Wow can’t believe you couldn’t take any photos!

Take some photos of those, too, please? Sounds like what I grew up calling Horse Chestnuts. I don't remember the monkey brains from my childhood, though, at least not prominently, but that was a hot minute ago.

Yes, will do tomorrow! My backyard is full of the brown ones. I was so happy we had trees when we moved in only to find out…it’s monkey ball central 😂😩

Hedge Apples, this i have heard before, as an affective natural spider repellent. Not saying it's true. Just saying I read that somewhere
