Update for Those Wanting to Help the 81 Seized Dobermans
First, thank you to everyone who has expressed such heartfelt concern and eagerness to help the 81 Dobermans seized from Marty Eis. Your compassion and support mean the world.
Many of you have asked where and how to donate, and everyone truly appreciates your generosity. I had hoped to share this information after a few remaining logistical details were clarified—but because I understand the urgency many of you are feeling, I want to provide context now so your support can be as informed and effective as possible.
Here’s what’s currently happening:
There are 11 different organizations and private parties caring for the seized dogs. Each one is independently fundraising for the dogs they currently have in their care. This means that if you donate to one organization, your donation stays with that group—regardless of whether they have one dog or many. Funds are not being pooled or shared across all 81 dogs.
For example, Henry County Humane Society is currently caring for 2 adult dogs and 3 parvo-positive puppies. They’ve been actively raising funds, which is great—but please be aware that donations made to them will only benefit their specific dogs and will stay within that organization. That’s why I’ve been encouraging everyone to pause before donating, so you can have all of the information and make sure your support goes where you truly want it to.
Why the delay in sharing donation links?
1. Transparency: We’ve been working to compile an accurate list of which dogs are with which organizations so that you, as donors, can decide exactly where your money goes.
2. Changing Numbers: One private boarding facility took in 27 dogs temporarily. These dogs are being held for now, but most of them will be transferred to other organizations for long-term care. That’s why the numbers are still shifting.
The woman running this boarding facility that took 27 dogs is a private business—not a nonprofit—so she can’t take donations through the usual fundraising platforms. I’ve been in regular contact with her since the seizure and have directed support to her as needed. A big thank-you to those who have already helped her directly with food, supplies, and other support.
Because of these complexities, we thought it best to give it a few days for everything to settle before releasing a comprehensive list of:
• Each organization
• The number of dogs in their care
• Their donation links
• What they currently need
That way, you can make informed decisions on how you’d like to help.
I know many of you have already donated, and I understand that there’s some concern and confusion. That’s exactly what I was hoping to avoid by asking for a little patience. The dogs are safe and being cared for. Taking just a little more time now will ensure your support has the greatest impact.

I’ve taken on the responsibility of communicating with the organizations involved to reduce the burden on them while they focus on caring for the dogs. My goal has always been to help the dogs and provide you with clear, up-to-date information.
To clarify one more point: Hand Me Down Dobes and Heritage Farms Rescue were the only two rescues physically on site during the intake with HMDD being the only Doberman specific rescue out of all of the rescues involved. Some of the criticism aimed at them lately is misplaced and unfair. I’ve personally been rejected to foster with HMDD due to their “no intact dogs” policy that is there with good reason and I understand the care and rules they enforce are there only for the dog’s benefit. Let’s try to stay focused on helping, not pointing fingers.
This is not about egos or affiliations. It’s about doing what’s best for the dogs. I truly believe we can come together to make a real difference—calmly, collaboratively, and clearly.
The dogs are still not an available for adoption. However we do still encourage you to apply to foster them as foster homes will be needed. I know Hand Me Down Dobes is actively interviewing and performing home checks on foster homes that apply due to the strong possibility of more dogs being moved into their care. If you are out of boundary and you do not meet the HMDD requirements to foster please reach out to your local Doberman rescue. You are also able to apply to the other organizations on this list as well as they are actively taking foster applications.
Thank you again to all of you who have offered support, shown patience, and stayed committed to the dogs. Your kindness is what’s keeping this effort strong.
More updates coming soon.
