Its about the size of a measuring cup- you could fit the whole nest in it.That's cool! You should put your hand or something there so we can tell how large, or rather how small, that is! I've often wondered if I have passed a hummingbirds nest and didn't even see it!
Looks like some beautiful Colorado weather! And somebody's enjoying it!

I'm guessing it landed in the wrong spot and touched two things together that it shouldn't have. We've had quite a few squirrels do it and that explosion is loud and knocked our power out every time. The power company finally put one of those squirrel guards on the pole since it was happening too much. Of course that wouldn't help with a bird.Any of you have power pole knowledge why this would happen?

Wow. Now it scares me that we could have disrupted it without even knowing!View attachment 154352
This the size of the hummingbird nests. They are so tiny.
And another reason I hate f'ing bluejays.A blue jay eating (well, trying to make off with so it could eat) a baby robin! Robins were in quite a tizzy about it

Wow I didn't know that eat baby birds! That would be cannibalism in our world.blue jay eating (well, trying to make off with so it could eat) a baby robin! Robins were in quite a tizzy about it
And I spoke too soon about not seeing bunny nests. We were gardening all day today and a few times Annie was out with us. One time I looked up to see where she was and she was looking at the ground at something. I was afraid that it might be a snake and that she may be naive enough about seeing her first one. So I started walking over to her when I saw her flip something in the air. When I got to her I saw that it was a baby bunny!Rubie almost nabbed a baby bunny from a parkway nest on our walk but managed to get just a mouthful of grass
I couldn't tell if it was injured or not but it was still alive. I looked around and found the nest and put it back, hoping for the best. Trying to keep her away from that area was difficult and next thing I knew she's looking at something again. This time it was a dead baby rabbit. I don't know if she got it or what. But I felt bad and put her in the house. Trying to keep her away from that area is going to be difficult. They are horrible birds and one of the reasons I can't stand them.I didn't know that eat baby birds! That would be cannibalism in our world.
Without a doubt. I don't think they bother a healthy tree but if it's stressed they will do that. We lost a silver maple some years ago and that was loaded with ants too.Look at the ants! I wonder if that's what weakened it?
Great shot catching that bird "rafting"!A Great Blue Heron we spotted on a tree floating down the river. He was sunning himself lol
