Poor boy. The Educator brand has a vibration only collar, maybe this is worth trying for things like recall? If you’re interested I would try it soon while he still has some hearing so he knows what the vibration means.

Indeed, I have a vibrate collar on him at almost all outdoor times as we speak, but ours is a cheap one and only offers one vibrate setting. I've considered buying one that can give weaker or stronger vibrate settings, and, I think, for us, that's a great place to start. I think we could both learn something new from that kind of collar.

Yes! I bought one last year and she recently had a buy 1 get 1 50% off sale, so I wanted to pick up some more. It doesn’t really get cold enough to wear them often here, but oh well
I honestly use ours inside more than out since they get chilled just lounging around in the house. When it's cold outside they go and do their business and come back in.

Beautiful photos! It's what attracted me to the breed as a child....someone in the neighborhood had a big dobe that would sit and watch his surroundings. Most of the kids were afraid of him (He never left his yard) but I was instantly in love, and wanted one for myself. A dream that finally came true
