He does a little bit of everything, but mostly a yappy type bark while waiting in line lol.
He should have 90 some points now!
I’m thinking one of those collars with a handle is a good idea for next time
After he finished the CAT he came towards me then turned around and went back to bite the bags haha!
It’s 150 points for the BCAT so he needs 3 more runs.
They make really cool rosettes for the events too! Here’s a few of them.

After an unusual crappy morning of conformation for both, we made the trip to blow some steam off at DPCM's Fast Cat Trial. Stavros' first fast cat and he took to it like a fish to water! Ripley had to show him how it's done and outran him. 
Not her fastest but she had fun!
Stavros - 22.9 & 23.08 mph
Ripley - 24.20 mph
Hopefully tomorrow is a better day for confo... It already will be with more than 3 hrs of sleep and not having to wake up at 2am to do a 3.5 hr drive.

Maybe LOL Derek had been working hard with Stavros and finally got him looking like Stavros knows what he's doing... until this morning. I.d.i.o.t.Anytime you step into the ring with your dog is a win, right?
Acted like he hadn't been trained a day in his LIFE. Our breeder said she knows we have worked hard with him and his dad was full of it too like this so Stavros might need to sit and let his BRAIN mature. Then on top of that I'm pretty sure Stavros' antics of "gotta go fast" made Derek look like this was his first day showing so when it came time to Ripley she did everything well as usual but, to keep her gaiting in the down and back he has to keep her moving the entire time when turning around. Not slow down, stop, line up "eassyyy" like Stavros needs... but Derek forgot this was Ripley and stopped her...so she paced. Dogs do it all the time, no big deal! You catch it right away and just turn around after the first stride to redo the back. Judge basically yelled across the ring to him to redo the ENTIRE thing and told him to do something entirely different they've never done before and pretty much if the judge tells you to do this, you do it...and it threw both of them off Ripley didn't like it and didn't want to trot. Just an awful day so had to go burn some more money doing some day of show 7 seconds of fun! At least it was more productive!!

I know we have bigger fish to fry, but I found a FastCAT in January near us! The Doberman Pinscher Club of Baltimore and Wilmington Kennel Club are running them. Just sent off some emails to see what I need to do as I have no idea. Pepper does chase the hose water very well and I am sure if food is involved she’ll take right off haha.

No food. This is all prey/chase instinct. White plastic bag dragged on the ground in a straight line, lure operator keeps it just far enough that they can't catch it until it stops at the end. You have to have one person release the dog at one end and another person at the end to pick them up. Most FC lure operators will do jerky movements with the bag to catch the dogs attention if they are first-timers. It took Asha a couple of times before she understood the game (she galloped along looking for me instead of chasing the bag. Once she realized that I'd be on the other end she was all for it.

She’ll probably love it! Remy took to it instantly. I’d say FastCat is more of an instinct thing (prey drive), so training isn’t really necessary. You can play around with a flirt pole or similar toy though.
Sometimes they will have “fun runs”, which is essentially the same as a normal run, except she will not earn any points towards the BCAT title. The organization we run with charges $25 for an official run and $5 for the fun run. You could always try that out first, if offered, to see if she likes it!
You’ll need to bring a second leash and ideally a second person. One to release her at the start line and one to catch her at the end. The events I’ve went to have volunteers who can help if you are alone though.
Also, if she happens to be in heat at the time of the event, she won’t be allowed to run unfortunately.

If you haven't already, skim through this whole thread from page 1. Fun to see some of the people & dogs that you know from the forum out doing this for fun and the photos! The stories & photos are worth the time, especially if you haven't done it or seen it in person, lots of tips to learn.
Put it on your calendar & go for fun! Seriously, no training needed if she'll chase a flirt pole.
Other thing to remember is it's AKC and no prongs or e-collars.

it IS so much fun! Generally, FastCAT folks are very helpful! If you tell them it's your first time, they may let the catcher and holder enter in the entrance area and let the catcher run the 100yds down to the finish line so you dog can see where you're going! You can't lure them down the track with food but they seem to catch on to the fun pretty quickly. You can call her name and dance around and making running to you the MOST exciting thing!
Rubie chases the bag but Moose just runs towards me; he's not very prey driven lol
make sure you have a sturdy collar and two leashes!
