I started with pocket full of tiny treats & a dog that is determined to earn every single one of them!!!
Last night I started digging through YouTube, and the best one I found that I thought would work best for me and Diva was from DoggyU.

Yes, Ripley knows how to do it quite well ! The nephews found out one day and were asking her to do it over and over that she eventually ignored them 
. I trained Paige and Java how to do it as well. It always gets lots of laughs and "how cute!" so great to use in public.

Too cute. Waiting for my helper to video of where we're at. We just started working on it yesterday, so Diva is in a down position to start with.Here's Ripley. One a little dramatic and slow because I'm right next to her and she doesn't want to lay on me.
Excuse the floor, it somehow snowed inside after Ripley had her stuffy in there so there's still remnants. Quite the coincidence.

That was how we initially started.
With Diva in a down, I'd actually touch her neck with my finger, "Bang" and kind of guide her head down with the other hand and treat. I phased out the treat for the initial motion but I still have to point to the floor for her to put her head down.
"Chill" here pretty much means you need to find a spot and relax.
Now that we're at the point we're at, maybe up the treat value and hopefully get a little further. (@Rits)
Taught my dog to do a similar trick. I started with "would you rather be married or dead". She would then lie on her side motionless. She loved it but while playing dead her tail would wag in excitement. I would then say in a firm voice, "dead dogs don't wag their tails" and she would stop. So the routine was to I'd say "would you rather be married or dead" she'd drop to the floor, she would be exited and wag her tale and I'd say, dead dogs don't wag their tales and she'd stop. It was her parlor trick and people were in awe. It took lots of treats and praise for her to learn it but she was a natural. I sure do miss that girl.

It's so much fun teaching & learning new stuff with this girl. When it clicks, it's like a light switch. THEY GET IT, we just need to figure out how to ask for it!
On the other hand, there's Joker. He's more of "You want me to do what? Nah, that's the crazy girls job but I'll free stack for you."
