BACKGROUND: I have a Red Dobe who is about 7 years old, 80 lbs heavy, indoors-dog, and he has the sweetest and most docile demeanor. I'm not a dog professional and I don't have particularly specific or "natural" oriented views about how to raise him. He eats regular kibble (Purina One), a bowl full once a day. Rosco (dobe) has pretty good self-control with his food, he will sometimes eat the whole amount, other times he will eat half at night and half the next morning.
PROBLEM: I have noticed some dried stains on the sofa, where he often sleeps. Within the past few days, I saw dry spots that look like diluted blood on the light-colored sofa throw. He has a kennel with a bed in it, the bed has a blanket and we found a large dry stain that was like brown-ish burgundy color and drops on the floor (pics attached). We examined his entire body and found no wounds, not even in his paws or pads. We did notice something in the tip of his penis. I wiped it with a paper towel and it looked yellowish pale white, like if it was some kind of discharge. Rosco is not fixed, i know the health benefits and ethics about fixing your dog, but i am morally concerned about submitting an innocent animal through surgery and medical trauma.
QUESTION: Has anyone found that their unfixed, middle aged Doberman experience problems with penile discharge? Any other Doberparents have had problems with staining?
