Drogo

New Member
Drogo is 9 months and 14 days today.

Was not with me for a month, he was sent to my farm at my brothers since then his coat has been dry and dull a bit flaky. And also remained a little smaller since then.
Even his cropped ears were not straight but started to curve a little.
There at farm he was not on dog food but on whole wheat bread and Buffalo milk
I do not my vet
Have only one vet in town so...

ACTIVITY
Morning 30 mins walk and evening 60 min play/training

His weight also is 22 kgs that is very low

Height- 24 inches (60 centimeters) on the smaller side

Food- currently testing different brands using 2-3 kgs bags feeding him twice a day.

Started ear posting again by vet suggestion

So problem
1 - dandruff / dull coat
2 - weight
3 - height
4 - can't decide food
(Vet Suggestion Farmina pumpkin grain free)
Or
(Farmina GROWTH prescription diet)
(Majority suggestions Royal canine)

Yes, at 9 mo... keep posting.

Bread & milk is not a sufficient diet for a Doberman pup or adult. He is a carnivore, he needs protein.
You can't keep changing foods. Minimum of 3 mo (6 mo is better) before you consider changing foods (and very gradually) or you can cause more problems then you're trying to fix.

In the picture of him standing, he doesn't look skinny. He looks like a slighter bone/substance dog.

Bread and milk was not my idea the whole time he was on drools vet pro
But for one month (7th month) at farm he was on bread and milk that's where all changed
As the slighter bone thing his father is well built but his mother is on smaller side

I would say his diet caused is skin and flakiness issue. All though Doberman’s will also get dandruff looking if they get stressed as well.

That will depend on what is available to you in your country. I would research a 4-5 star rated all life stages food.
Well a lot of them have suggested me royal canine (3star)
But vet suggested me Farmina (5star)
Even royal canine is 3 star a lot of vets and breeders suggest this food
I'm very confused what to do

I use lamb and rice with 2000mg of fish oil. Coconut oil can be rubbed into skin to remove flakes then bathe with oatmeal dog soap and follow with dog conditioner, but don't wash conditioner completely out. Then dry. If you see him drying up again reapply coconut oil and let set. I believe from reading you figured out the diet problems, so that is number one to stop flaking. Also, watch sun time. Left in the sun, with the sun being what it is, it can be drying to a black coat. We had a fawn with overcoat gone due to amaciation before we adopted her and she could actually burn from the sun. Food is a matter of choice and what is available. I use lamb and brown rice due to skin and digestion. Not going to brand name. Just see what you think is best.

Drogo,I wouldn't worry about size. Buddy grew to a year and a half, some will till two years, not skeleton but they bulk up. Rodyboy

Most vets suggest royal canine cause that’s what they sell. Do not feed royal canine or hills science.

Like others said a good start is a 5 star rated dog food ALL STAGES.

Dog Food Reviews and Ratings | Dog Food Advisor Use that site to search 5 star dog foods and look for ones on the list that your local shops sell.

You can buy fish oil to add to his to help with the coat, Amazon sells it if that’s easier for you.

You can also do a spray bottle with a mix of water and coconut oil and spray on dogs coat and rub it in.

Good luck:)

Well i know they bulk up but im more worried about the skeleton im afraid that he may stay small.

Even if the are small none of the doberman traits will be missing. The agility is honed. From my own perspective, I guess I never worried about size. I picked the runt for my first dobe. She was 24" of pure, raw Doberman. So fast, and her temperament was incredible. What des vet say. Maybe not a good question. He thought Buddy would be medium but he turned out to be 28 and a half inches. Small horse in the house. Does it matter or do you want to show him?
