Pacing and Crying

Hi I’m back again.
The last few days I’ve noticed that Logan endlessly paces around the room and only stops every few minutes to cry. He’s never shown signs of anxiety before but I know it’s possible that he developed from something. He’ll also wake up in the morning to cry to go out, only to stand there and wait for me to go with him but he’ll only go lie down in the dirt.

Another thing is his sudden weight gain. We changed his food a few weeks ago, but he was doing fine until now.

Does anyone know why he could be having this anxiety? And what about his weight? He’s gained a lot within just a week. Not sure the exact amount.

Is it really weight gain or does he look bloated? Maybe he is eating too fast? You don't need to follow the food amount recommended on the label just feed an amount that keeps the dog looking in good shape.

Some Dobermans whine a lot. Do you give in to him when he does this? It's best to ignore it.

He’s gained a little extra weight mostly around his hips and ribs. I know you’re supposed to be able to feel a little bit of the ribs, but I can’t at all.
And I usually try to ignore it but it’s a little difficult for me.

The combination of weight gain, whining, and pacing, and acting abnormal (lying down) sounds like he is in abdominal pain. I would take him to the vet as soon as possible, especially if he isn't pooping normally.

He is pooping but it’s a little bit loose. Maybe he just ate something bad I don’t know. But I can get him checked. He is due for his yearly check anyway I believe.

Just make sure they don’t give him any vaccinations if he’s not feeling well.

I hate when you bring in an ill dog and the tech says “ oh I see they are due for this and this.. do you want to go ahead and get those??” .. I’m like ...no idiot I’m here cause my dog’s not feeling well - don’t need vaccinations on top of it.

Oh and if you do go in and he’s due for vaccinations ask if you can bring him in later for just shots when he’s feeling better so that you’re not changed for another check-up. My vet allows about a month without having to do a wellness exam.

This may not be anxiety and may have a medical reason behind it. I would make an appointment with your Vet asap to rule things out medically. This could be something serious.
