Oh yah, definitely will get him into professional training when he gets a little older and I do a little work with him with the basic stuff like sit and all that. We're working on him knowing his name right now obviously lol We only got him last night and met him for the first time on Monday.

If protection training is something you are interested in, I strongly suggest getting him in with a trainer asap. Raising a protection dog is a bit different than raising a pet. It's never ever too early to start with a trainer. Most people make the mistake of waiting too long. A good trainer will be able to guide you through all phases and tell you with honesty what your dog is capable of and not push them beyond their limits. Not every dog can or should do protection work.
I'm with Bri, I'd guess he's in the 12-14 week age range. His face is starting to mature and look less "baby". His nails and eyes are other give aways. You'll see in my pictures that K's eyes were still blueish and his nails almost cat like. The October date is likely shots and/or worming.

This is very true!!
I see y'alls point.... Maybe not like protection-protection..... but I guess we both just kind of want him to be able to give the "scary bark" or realize if something is off or someone is trying to make a move at me in a threatening way. I'm going to start looking into professional training regardless of if it's for protection or just to make him a well trained, good behaved dog.
Yah, you're right. That MUST be the date of the vet visit... I'm not sure where the other papers are to see his DOB. He definitely looks more like the 14 week pictures but without the cropped ears obviously.

He'll be a big boy I'm assuming.... I guess mostly if nothing else I just want him to be trained so that he stays when he's told, sits when he's told, me be able to easily handle him with no issues whatsoever, etc. ya know? At the bare minimum that. For "protection" will just be an added bonus. Who knows, maybe he isn't cut out for the whole protection thing.... I guess time will tell when I find a trainer that can work with us.

There were two photos posted yesterday I believe that we were all commenting the pup appeared older than 8 weeks.

Yep! I posted a couple, I’ll post some more later too still haven’t found the paperwork with his DOB, but am going to call/text his first human family on Monday and find out for sure.
Update on him though- he’s doing well! The only thing I’m concerned about that just started today is that he acts and stands like he’s peeing.... but isn’t or just pees a few little droplets. He hasn’t pottied in the house until today when he started this. And he’s doing it outside too. I’m purposely looking to see if he’s actually going when he does the “stance” but either doesn’t at all, or just a few drops. And he’s doing it a lot.

Other than that, he is a hoot and pretty well behaved for a pup. He tries to test what he can get away with every now and then but other than that he’s pretty good right now! He’s going to help me stop smoking too lol he HATES it when my husband or I smoke. We never smoke in the house, only outside, but he REFUSES to come by us while we’re smoking. As soon as we put it out, he’ll come right back and listen and do what we say. While smoking though.... forget about it lol. I know I need to break him of that, but I need to quit anyway so it’s a win win for everyone lol

If this continues for more than 24 hours, get him into the vet. Could be a urinary tract infection. Nothing too serious if caught in a timely fashion. Push extra fluids (give as much water as he will drink and add water to food). If he starts showing any signs of pain or fever, vet immediately.
That’s what I was worried about... I’ll keep an eye on it. I just wasn’t sure since I haven’t had a puppy in forever and never a male. I’ll be sure to do that. Hopefully it goes away on its own ): but tomorrow if he’s still doing it I’ll find out what vet he went to before so we can take him there.
