It's the roof of a shed out back. They're a common site here, most days I walk along the water there's one fishing the shoreline. Always in about the same place so I imagine it's a resident. The neighbour's not so happy about them...he's had to put a wire cover over his pond to keep his koi safe.

I think we have quite a few around here. Many of those swamp birds in the area are fascinating to listen too.
I guess there are a few I haven't posted from recent.
A Whiskey Jack (Canadian Jay) out having some suet.
A good size comparison from woodpeckers that look a lot alike.

That really is a difference in the woodpeckers! We have the Downy (the smaller one)....what is the larger one there?
That's one cute bird! I've heard that we have them in northern Maine and that they are really tame.
They really are. If Hubby is out in the deer stand having a snack they'll come and land right on the window asking for some of his food. LOL
It's funny they're so darn elusive the second I move toward the window to take a pic.
I believe that one is a Downy.
I'm confused. Our Downys are small like the one on the bag feeder in your photo. You said:So I thought you meant these are different birds that just 'look a lot alike'? So your saying they are both Downys? I didn't know there were different sizes. I'll have to pay attention to the ones I see here! LOL

I never even knew about the Hairy Woodpecker but he certainly is a look-alike to the Downy!
Yellow finches are really cool but also illegal to keep without proper permitsMy dad always love the yellow finch and used to say he'd love to keep one too.

I love how they cheep when they are flying. It seems so joyous.
Oh, he knew that.
LOL! It was just this tease that he would say every time because he thought they were such a beautiful bird. And I always loved it just for his outward display of affection. 
He was a sweetheart!
I bet the Whiskey Jacks would be great pets if it was legal. Both them and Blue Jays make the oddest noises, including what sounds to me like a hawk. I guess they're true mimickers. I've been tossing around the thought of a couple of indoor Finches too since they're so sweet and twitter so pretty, but then I remember that I already have a parrot and lots of fish tanks to take care of, in addition to the dogs and horse.
