Best Pet Vacuum EVER!!!

I took a chance and ordered this Bissell PowerEdge Pet Vacuum for hard floors. And I love it!

What prompted me to even hunt for something like this was how frustrated I was getting when I would sweep the kitchen floor and to no end there would still be dog hair.

Vacuuming the floor on the bare floor setting with the vacuum I have now just didn't do it for me either. The broom was better then using the vacuum on the kitchen floor with the the vacuum on bare floor setting. (Works great for carpet though)
Mainly the vacuum would blow hair everywhere instead of sucking it up. So most of the time I ended up using the shop vac with all the extra long extensions so as to not blow hair everywhere and I would sweep then shop vac the kitchen floor to effectively get it all. It was a pain in the you know what to drag that thing out. Well now I have hard wood floor and the swifter and the broom just is a nightmare really. I needed a more convenient option so I could clean the floor from pet hair on a more daily to every other day basis.

There were tons of amazing reviews on this on amazon and I figured for $49 I had to give it a try - and boy I am glad I did. This thing is amazing. I put it to the test too. I took the Kong Zoom Groom and I brushed Luca in the kitchen. Hair disaster. EVERYWHERE. Took the PowerEdge Pet out and it sucked it right up in a neat little row where I went over. Reminded me of an infomercial that you don't believe. Did not blow hair anywhere. I was so happy I went on vacuuming all things I could. I now am happy to report I vacuum daily as it is quick and has a super long cord. Best thing ever. I can zoom right under the edges of the couch too and capture the stuff that's hard to get with the broom or normal vac.

I have one of these but no pads. Never went to buy replacements. Seems it didn't work well...The unit itself had a defect. When I took it back to the store to complain, the lady behind the counter told me there was a loose nut behind the handle. I thanked her, brought it home, and took a monkey wrench to the handle to tighten it, but it didn't help. It still dont work worth a s:censored:t!

Swifter sucks at this house ;) I've tried the dry and wet. I don't care for either. Sure the dry gets hair up and maybe if your in a pinch. But it doesn't do an effective enough job for my type A personality. I also don't care for the wet jet. I prefer to use my shark steam mop instead.

But this thing is light and super quick to use with a long cord.
 
I love Bissel products too and our carpet shampooer works great. And of course the Spot Bot is a valuable thing too when you have dogs or pups.

Our next vacuum will definitely be a Bissel too but our older Eureka has been hanging in there so I can't justify buying another "just because".

This is a hard floor only vacuum. This is not for carpet. And if you even try it won't budge. It has the rubber on the bottom to grasp every hair and pull back towards the suction. If you don't have all hard floors or majority hard flooring then it wouldn't be as valuable to you as it is to me!
 
Have you tried the Dyson DC41? I have that one and it works fantastic on our hardwood floors and our carpet upstairs.
 
With 4 Labs and a couple of long haired cats, not to mention the bird dumping feathers on the floor. I voted for the shop vac. Then I put in new french doors, can open the doors on either side of the room and let the (sing along now....) "Wind come sweepin' down the plain" and it just blows all the hair, dirt, dust bunnies straight to Kansas or Texas depending on the season! When it's 105 and humidity is up, I figure that is almost steaming them clean. :eek:
 
We have this vacuum and I can not say how much I love it. This thing is AMAZING!!!!! Our entire house, as some of you know, is entirely antique (if hardwood can be called that) hardwood. The house is over 100 yrs old with the original hardwoods so finding something that wouldn't damage them was a must.

With the two dobies, a pekingese, and a long haired cat, we have hair everywhere! Plus, we live near 2 rock quarries and 1 is only a block away so we also have A LOT of dust. I vacuum under the sofa once every 2-3 weeks and the floor is always grey instead of the warm, golden brown of our floors. This bad boy picks up that dust just like an infomercial like Luca & Co said.

A couple of the reviewers on amazon recommended getting a second filter to go with it and i'm glad we did. It seems to fill up quickly so I can take out the dirty one, wash it out, and pop in the spare one while the other one dries.

I don't have as many pets or the quarry dust you have so that must be why the filter does not seem to get used up quick for me compared to you. But I swear by this thing. It is seriously infomercial hahaha. I'm glad someone understands what I ment by that!! ;) I don't think anyone could ever convince me to ever get or use anything else for my hard woods. I've already tried broom, swifer, shop vac, and our pet vacuum (supposedly made for carpet and hardwood).

I honestly don't even change it as often as I should. I vacuum probably 3-4 times a week (also not as often as I should, lol!) and I change the filter after maybe 3 weeks. I can notice a huge difference in suction when I change it and I usually don't change it until I can tell it's not picking up like it should. The little filter takes a while to dry (well over a day) so having the spare is convenient though definitely not necessary.

And yes, I'm sure the difference in hair/dust volume is a huge factor, lol. Even our filter for the central air unit should probably be changed twice a month because of the stupid dust. Plus there are still a lot of plaster walls which i think also contributes to the dust. I love this house because it was my great grandmother's and a practically grew up in it but I won't be heartbroken to leave the dust behind when the time comes!

Even on my tile floor!! I have a central vac which I love! But for in between times I love the Swifter. :)

Thanks, MyBuddy ...glad someones ribs here were sensitive enough to feel the poking I was doing!

On another note, I imagined there's perhaps a few of the "GSD Chat Forum" folks snoopin' around here saying..."Geez...even the doberman people have to sweep up tons of hair, too!!!
