Well, I figure it's time to share the news. We kept a Ripley daughter out of the Ink x Ripley litter. The goal when breeding is to always produce better than what you started with. Well, we think (and hope) we did just that. I had about three improvements I wanted to make on Ripley with this pairing. That was more bone, a better front (although hers is fairly decent, she has good layback but could use more return on the upper arm), and more squareness to the muzzle without losing all the good qualities I already had with Ripley, namely her beautiful movement, top line and rear...but the most important to me is her versatility and lovely temperament with a strong protective instinct.
All the puppies were very nice puppies with lovely temperaments but we ultimately placed 3 in show homes. Ferro (now Collins), Drake the boy (now Crowley) and Vasquez (now Trendy). Ferro and Vasquez scored high on their working dog temperament tests and either would do well in bite sports, an avenue I'd like to explore with Ripley and her pups. They were very bold, biddable puppies with good prey and tug drive.
I held onto the two pick girls until 12 weeks and ultimately went with Vasquez! She is slightly more biddable and has crazy tug drive. She can also take a correction, listen to it and it doesn't shake her, she goes right back to trying what you do want. All qualities I'm personally looking for when it comes to my future goals for my breeding program!
She's a tenacious girl that doesn't back down but she's also very eager to please. I swear she has springs for legs...she's always jumping and launching herself at you, lol. She already had her first session at our IGP club meet. She had full deep bites and didn't want to let the little tug pillow go. She loves a good game of tug and gladly played with the helper! They said she should be a fun one so we can't wait to see where she goes.
Their sire came from the "hot" litter (GCH Denalli's Hot Off The Press) so I'm happy to introduce to you, from the "cool" litter: Soluna's Before It Was Cool "Trendy" !

Lunchtime snuffle mat
Not helping me AT ALL when I was sick by turning off my roomba...
She's the biggest snuggler and has to be touching me like her mom.
