Zara asking DC members for prayers and positive thoughts.

Zara is having surgery this Tuesday, January 9th, 2024.

She is having a mass removed on her inside upper Rt. front leg near her elbow.
Aspirated showed we should have it removed for further testing.

Very movable and doesn't seem to attached.

I will be keeping a close watch on this thread as Rubie has the exact same thing in the exact same place but the vet seemed non-plussed about it. Hoping it's nothing ❤️❤️

The Vet asked about her Heart a couple of weeks ago. So, I did a 48hr Holter over this past weekend. She only had 1 Single PVC.

Surgery removal went well. Zara is resting at home now. Now the waiting begins 7-10days for the Histo Report.
Biggest thing now is to keep a Doberman calm! LOL! Especially when you have a 4yr male which is Zara's son.

Thank you everyone for your good thoughts and prayers.
Now hoping for a good Histo Report.

How is Zara handling the rest and recovery phase? Was she groggy coming out of anesthesia? I am wondering about Kaiser post surgery, if we will have to let him sit in the front seat so he doesn’t get hurt jumping into the cargo area of the SUV.

Or the back seat since it's the same height as the front seat; or at least it is on mine.

Picking her up she was a little disorientated.
She had the cone of shame around her neck so she wouldn't mess with the incision.
Didn't want to put her in a crate. So, I picked her up and she sat in the front seat.

Maybe I would take someone with you to sit with him in the back seat or in the cargo area. Because if their balance is off just starting and stopping the car they might fall over. Or the crate would be a good idea.

She is doing well. We took the cone off of her when we got home.

Update

Well Zara's Histopath Report came back. We were hoping for a better report.

Microscopic Findings: Spindle cell sarcoma, Grade 1 Hemangiopericytoma.

Soft Tissue spindle cell sarcoma is present. Histologic features favor Hemangiopericytoma, a soft tissue sarcoma of perivascular wall origin.

In canines they tend to be locally invasive neoplasms with a relatively high recurrence rate.

Good thing they rarely metastasize and few have documented metastasis at initial presentation.

Our vet who did the surgery said, being a Grade 1 and she got very good margins. So, just to watch the area for reoccurrence.

Also, our Integrative Vet said, with complete excision, which they got, will be curative in her experience 99.9%

So, we will start giving supplements to help ward off any reoccurrence by keeping her immune system strong and supported.

Exactly what @JanS said. The 99.9% is reassuring and at least you know to watch that spot now. How is she feeling otherwise? Back to her normal self by now?

She wanted to be back to normal.

But she slipped on the kitchen floor this morning and opened up the incision where the mass was. Had to re-visit the vet (in a snow storm) for a couple of sutures. Our vet said it could take 2-3 weeks to heal. :pullhair: :pullhair: No steps, no jumping and no running or playing. :pullhair:
The incision is just in a very bad place near the elbow which moves all the time. On total lock down now in her crate.

I'm glad I have more Bourbon.
