My boy (age 3) has been a picky eater since 6 mos, even with raw food. A few months ago I started him on a supplement called Yea-Sacc (1/4 tsp sprinkled on food) and that has helped a lot with the pickiness, and he has gained about 5 lb. If your boy is not picky, simply giving him about 1/4 lb raw ground beef daily would help. My dog's breeder recommended that.

Food debates are second only to crop vs dock which are second only to "positive only"...and can get "spicey"...
I do notice that There are a LOT of people feeding raw,
but if it were me on a puppy, and want to be safe, I'd cook meat to 165degrees,
just as I would for myself on chicken which is the most common source of salmonella.
I was not aware that beef could be contaminated until I read the above.
Of course. That's why the wolves and coyotes order their meat precooked.
It is rare (pun intended) for carnivores to get ill from such bacterias but not impossible. I will never say never, but the biggest reason raw dog food is recalled for salmonella is for the safety of humans more than the dogs, and laws demand it and lawsuits will happen, so there's that. Humans should be smart enough to wash their hands after handling raw meat whether they are fixing dinner for the dog or rubbing steaks for the grill. Because humans don't have the stomach of a dog.
