Millie’s first experience staying at a hotel.
We went up to Dinuba, CA to celebrate my grandmothers 95th!
Millie travels well in the car, but hotel stay is new.
We looked at many air bnb deals. All had an either no dogs rule or only dogs under 50lbs clause. Holliday Inn Expess had no weight or breed restrictions

Friday night after arriving and settling in to the room we went into town and found a Mexican food joint with outdoor seating and would accept dogs.
Everything was fine until a guy came walking by with a little dog that exploded with barking, startled Millie who had just dozed off.
Well, Millie exploded back with Big dog barking.
The guy was scared! Picked up his little dog and they scurried away.
Within 5 minutes it happened again with another guy. Rinse and repeat.
Wonderful
The next day we headed over to the place grandma was staying. She sent me a pic of the “rules” and saw nothing about dogs so that worked out.
My uncle shows up with his little mutt. She is a barker. Nervous energy.
Millie was a saint! No barking, no growling. She just walked up and towered over the little dog, sniffed her and walked away.
Pretty much ignored the dog the rest of the day.

That little dog didn’t shut up for the 4 hours she was there.
Of course the whole family is there and to them Millie was a rockstar.
I’ve never seen Millie shift into mellow dog mode quite like this. Soft walk, soft approach to the elderly.
She met one old gal in a wheel chair and as she pet Millie, Millie just just rested her head on this gals lap.
Soft approach to the baby of 3 months old just to smell the new human.
She was very interested in the baby.
The hotel had a nice grass area to take her down to so that worked out well but there was no place enclosed to just let her off leash.
I considered just letting her off anyway, but between random guests with dogs and a stray cat with 2 kittens lurking in the bushes I decided against it.
There was an office chair in the room with wheels so we made a game of tug me across the room

And from the room she had a clear view of the plowed field next door, all the crows doing crow things, a few random dogs belonging to the homeless camp in the park across the street riled her up a little.
Overall impressed how she adapted to the new environment.
By the end of the second day she could lead me to the elevator, and off the elevator to our room door.
Other than popping off at the Mexican dogs being walked past us the first night she did well.
Perfect heal walking in and out of the hotel had the hotel lobby guys impressed too.
Some of the other guests dogs were all out at the end of the leash pulling their people with reckless abandon.
We saw a labradoodle, a Belgian Mal, and a Jack Russel. No leash manners at all.
Millie represented the Doberman breed very well by comparison
