I'm afraid all I have to share is this one photo. I couldn't find our camera in my bag today and will have to search for it. Its really too bad because we had a great session. We had only a few dogs so we managed to get training in on all three phases today. River had a typical puppy track for her first one, she bounced and wiggled all over. In her defense we hadn't tracked in a long time and the cover was poor. The cover was so bad I couldn't see my track and lost the end of the first one. Her second one was much better. She settled in and focused much better. I didn't have enough flags for a third and the cover was so bad I wouldn't have been able to see it without one. Spock had an amazing track. Pat messed up and thought he'd missed the corner but Spock kept pulling like "hey dumby we haven't hit it yet". He took Spock off and put him back on the track only to realize the dog was right, lol. He gave Spock his head and the boy took the corner like a champ. Next time he'll listen to the boy.
Everyone loved River's OB. They were very impressed with her focus and attention for her age. I committed a rookie mistake today and forgot to take off my sunglasses. I couldn't understand why she was forging and distracted then it dawned on me, duh she can't see my eyes! Took them off and what do you know? There was the awesome puppy I'd been seeing. Spock had a good OB session, too. He took the full height jump for the first time on his own, lol. Pat went to take the first board out to start him out easy and as he reached for the board Spock jumped the whole thing, LOL! So they just worked at full height. He was bad about clipping the top or jumping off it with his back end but after a few tries he finally figured it out and everyone cheered for him when he sailed over it cleanly. He was so proud of himself.
Spock's protection session was the best we've seen in a while. It was disheartening at first because he started out acting all shy and squirrely like he had been. Not committing and trying to hide behind Pat. After a couple easy bites he suddenly seemed to come out of his funk and came on strong. By the end of it Pat was sending him next to the blind for bark and holds and he was striking nicely and hard. The fastest recovery we've seen in one session. River had two sessions. The first one she was just watching another really vocal dog in the club but she really had to poop so her head wasn't in it and we didn't get anything out of her. (But I do owe the club a case of beer for her going on the field...ugh!) So at the end of the day we went over to the side of the field and she and dad did some work with the tube. He got some great barks out of her and some solid bites. She's still teething and I forgot her harness so we kept it easy. She bled on the tube a bit, though. At the end we let her run the tube back to the trailer and everyone saw her bite. They were very impressed. What can I say, she's my little rising star!
