Random Pet Photo of the Day - 2026

This would be the way to go, but, as a postman, I simply cannot get my postmaster to budge on it. Someone high up at USPS decided that if not every mailman has treats, a dog who is used to getting them might become aggressive, which is dumb. Even the safety info we get about dogs in a 5 minute pre-route safety speech (the topic varies but we do have them frequently) is lacking, in my opinion. It doesn't even cover not making eye contact with an agitated dog.
On the brighter side, UPS employees run a facebook page called UPS Dogs, and it's the most heartwarming content I usually see in a day. The drivers just post about their favorite dogs or new dogs on their routes, sometimes other really random animals make it on there, too. I think it's safe to say in this audience that everyone here would absolutely love it. Check it out if you haven't already! Oh, and UPS drivers are allowed to carry treats, and this page shows that it is quite successful for them.
This is about a 4 1/2' vertical faxe, newly scoured. Old fat fahrt had a little trouble climbing it so I used her SD "lift" command holding collar to get me a boost...x2.
Not completely kosher as trained but she had the hang of it...worked!
Good girl!
Stranger Danger. Someone walking along our outer border fence, harmless person, but I let Asha bark her fool head off this time. If it's someone I'm expecting arrives, I tamp her down, after her initial barking alert, but this neighbor is passing through our unfenced property and not stopping to visit and I just let Asha do her thing just to see how long she would keep barking... She didn't stop barking until the walker was out of sight.
Good girl!
I got to spend some time with my girl. My son had a long work day so he asked if I could go by and check on her as well as let her out. Of course not a problem because I just love this girl! She is settling in nicely and has her basic commands down really well. She's still a bit thin from her the days she had find food but she is gaining slowly using nutrition and not empty calories.
She is just the happiest dog and her happy just spills out everywhere!

Fooling with the iphone16pro trying to get a shot showing how bright the moonlight is on a full moon, desert air clear skies- like a searchlight...
This picture is not to naked eye, its based on a longer exposure...but you can see Bonnie sniffing the wind, listening...we were out hoping to get sight of one of the Great Horned Owls...heard a begging call (recorded on Merlin Bird app that you can play back too) at a distance...tried calling it in but no joy.
My wifes dog park biologist friend also confirmed its just juvenile curiousity and as they grow to adults, they are reserved with strangers...like dobes!
She thought its likely that hawks and coyotes may collaboratively hunt, one looking for bycatch...but not aware of studies on it.
But its not an owl thing.

I did once watch a coyote hazing a juvenile bald eagle until it dropped its rabbit prize. That was pretty cool.View attachment 164357
