An ADULT DOBERMAN! I loved that she could stay at our home, but she did not read my note! Then we tried my MIL ...she came down from MN to take care of the kids, and when we returned from a trip, the house smelled like gas.....she had used the cooktop in the a.m. and left it 'on' and the flame had gone out... she thought she had shut it off, and she had turned it to low.
After that we bought the camper, and took the dogs everywhere
. Now that we are in TN, we don't go anywhere Touring an apartment complex. Some firsts: first time playing on grass, first time playing in fallen leaves, and first time seeing the UPS delivery and watching curiously.

Been walking with her more after dusk to boost her confidence, sharpen recall etc. With clear sky and half to full moon we can make out trails...without a flashlight.
She's my early warning system.

That's the way we normally do it too, aside from family funerals and stuff where we are both expected to be.Now that we are in TN, we don't go anywhere. I had to go to my brothers funeral, so dog dad stayed home, and I stay if he has to go somewhere
THIS is a calendar shot!!!!Catching a ray of sunshine on top of our stone pile.

100% his temperament, he came pre-wired this way.Boy, Rollo is a handsome dog, and handling new things in stride like a champ!
@Nordika what amount of that calm confident temperament do you ascribe to breeding, vs what part you have "trained" by your own calm leadership/socialization and specific commands if any?
I'm fascinated by the nature vs nurture discussion, and especially in this thoughtful wise "watchdog" guardian breed since the science on behavior in dogs in general is so thin, despite evidence for thousands of years of successful animal husbandry in cattle, horses and foundation breed dogs...
Open ended question probly OT here on photo thread so if you'd like to go into more, I'll start a stand alone topic for all to say more.
Its the anecdotal experiential wisdom here and elsewhere that so useful in the absence of science "data"...![]()
