Opinions on Vit-E and Fish Oil

Recently someone suggested I give Logan Vitamin E and Fish Oil, or just give him Sardines about once or twice a week instead of just coconut oil. Just wondering about anyone’s opinion on that. His skin is still dry, I mean we are in Arizona, but now he seems a bit itchy/ has thinning fur one his shoulders like he has some allergies.
Also was told that if those don’t work for the allergies to give him an allergy pill. What kind would you recommend if it came to that?

Thanks~

We are in a dry climate too and we give Krill oil supplements plus Vit E when he is not eating a fish-based food. If he gets sardines, it’s with non-fish food and 2x a week. It definitely reduces the amount of shedding. I also give Apple Cider Vinegar everyday. Then I comb him almost daily to keep his coat looking shiny.

Re the allergies, they tend to be sensitive to scented products or chemical applications to grass. Do you have a pic of the affected shoulder?

Yeah, it wasn’t noticeable at first until I saw him in the sun and it was noticeably thinner than the rest of his fur, and he’s developed a small spot on it.

Whether or not your dogs issues are due to allergies I of course can’t say. That spot might be an old bug bite too sometimes they scar and the hair doesn't grow back.

I brush him and give coconut oil daily, raw egg a couple times a week and I feed sardines once a week (if you go canned make sure you used the ones in water with no salt added). Jaspers coat is soft and silky, no dandruff and hardly any shedding.

As far as adding Vit E we make sure it says its a Full Spectrum Vit E (like the one below and others) and not just plain Vitamin E. This type has Tocopherols and Tocotrienols in it. These will be listed on the bottle.
The vitamin E family of tocopherols and tocotrienols is well know in the maintenance of cardiovascular health and helps with normal immune function.

Lots of Fish Oils to choose from.
I like ones made from the smaller fish like Anchovies, Sardines and Mackerel. We use Iceland Pure Sardine Anchovy Fish Oil.
But we also add in 2-3x's per week canned Sardines (in Water only). Make sure they are not from China!

Organic Coconut Oil Yes also.

Hm, I don’t know about red coats, but it is said they tend to have less dense coats than black Dobes...maybe that’s why it seems thinner? That little rub spot doesn’t seem like much cause for concern...looks like leash burn or a scrape. Does it hurt him if you touch it? Is it bumpy?

No, it’s not. But this morning I noticed another spot on his back. I don’t know if it could’ve been a tick or something that bit him, but it seems to only be on his right side.
