Hi, im new to this forum! Just got my first doberman a few weeks ago. I received him cropped by the breeder and didnt notice this at first. He has like a kind of pocket on the base of his ear im not sure if its normal because of the postings. Im just looking for opinions as im new to dobies. I appreciate any feedback! Thanks in advance

Welcome!

Congrats! What a cute Doberpup!

I don't see what you're referring to as a pocket. It looks like a nice crop.
Thank you!
I appreciate the reply. Its a little more visible on the second pic. I guess i'm just a little paranoid since its my first doberman and first time getting a cropped pup.
Definitely feel relieved now

I don’t see anything crazy…
I think you are referring to the “bell”- bottom of the ear.

In the 2nd picture, it does look a little outward but I bet it’s because of the popsicle stick and angle of picture.

Post more pictures please.

Welcome from Minnesota and congrats on your new pup!

He's a cutie and the ears look totally normal to me.

Aww, he looks like such a sweet boy. Do you have a name picked out?

I wouldn't worry about it. Because of the ear-size-to-body-size ratio as he grows into his ears, the bell of the ear might look disproportional at this stage. It also depends on the posting style. If you look at Google images of "Doberman ears posted", some of the young puppies resemble yours.

Here's an example:

With what might be a different posting style (and an older dog), this is how it will likely look in the future:

He's cute and crop looks fine, pockets looks normal. Some tape ears too tight at bottom...that's a no no. Keep going.

Hi cute baby! Look forward to seeing more of your boy as he grows! Ears look fine; agree you might be referring to the bell of the ear.
