New food? Pooping a lot.

5-7 poops is a lot of pooping...

How much kibble are feeding?

Ragnar started with Purina Pro Plan Sensitive Stomach Salmon and rice. His poops were soft and gas was horrible.

I transitioned to TOTW High Praire and poops are solid with little to no gas. I know he poops once maybe twice a day. I feed him 1-1/2 cups three times a day.

He gets 2 cups in the morning and 2 cups in the evening. He’s also underweight due to an allergic reaction to one of his vaccines.

So only 4 cups a day.

Has he gained any weight since you went to TOTW?

Just has me wondering if he is breaking down and digesting the kibble in order to extract the necessary nutrients or is he just pooping it all out. Or as Kaiser2016 stated, just a lot of filler? But I don't find TOTW has a lot of filler.

Not an expert food analyzer, just trying to rationalize what is going on.

He’s gained 2 pounds in the last 3 weeks. But he had coccidia and an allergic reaction to a vaccine so he had diarrhea for several days and lost a lot of weight.

So I’m not sure, tomorrow I may pick up some acana and transition his diet over to that.

How old is he again?

Anyway you could break it up and feed him 3 times a day?

The 2 cups in the morn and evening may be too much on his stomach and it is just moving it out before it gets digested?.?.?

He’s 11 weeks and 4 days old. I asked the breeder about the pooping a little bit ago and he said it’s normal for the age to eliminate that much. But tomorrow I’m going to get some acana and transition his food over to that.

Are they big poops or more like turds? If they're turds then maybe he is absorbing the nutrients but just not eliminating fully during each potty break. The balcony setup could be contributing to that. If they're large poops, then his body is not taking the nutrition properly. Malabsorption? Adding a probiotic? Others will need to weight in at this point.

If you go to Acana, I suggest finding something along the lines of 28% protein to prevent pano (mostly males are affected); from what I recall, the closest might be their Pork formula. It's what we fed but couldn't stick to it as my hb has a sensitive nose and he thought it made Kaiser's breath smell metallic  If you don't have that issue, it might work for you, at least long enough to see if their formulation improves the "output".
