What type of camera do you have? and those are good shots if you have to push the shutter button that far in advance.

its a kodak, 12 pixel...not sure what the actual make is...

the first shot of her running... i tried to catch her jumping, lol... so thats a helluva delay!

Want some advice? OK....Watch your shadows....take your pic in full sun, with the shadow behind or under your subject!

You should also use the flash even when outdoors it will also help eliminate some shadows and should reduce the lag time a bit.

Great catches!
With a little playing around you can perfect the little annoyances.

To speed up the shutter, it really depends on the camera. I'm guessing yours isn't a SLR, so you'll never get an instantaneous "click".

From what I remember of my pre-SLR days, try holding down the shutter button halfway, which should initiate the auto-focus. The focusing is what takes the most time, even with SLRs using auto-focus. Then, you just have to wait for the perfect moment to take a photo, usually when your moving subject is in line with whatever you focused on.

With practice, this will improve things immensely! There are some photos I took about 5-6 years ago with a cheapo Kodak digital camera (less than $100):

geez sizzledog, that dog ever touch the ground? hehe... i am gonna try the holding it down half way... just was hard to throw the ball and do all that before she got back to me, lol

LOL! At that age, NO she never touched the ground! When she's feeling her best (which is definitely *not* right now!) she still flies that much. :)
