Mischas incision is still oozing quite a bit... to where it's dripping on the floor. She's also scratching so much she has her nipples on both sides scratched raw. Poor girl is having a hell of a time here! She also ate half her e collar. Mischa is the definition of demon dog  this dog is going to be the death of me! The pic is actually after we cut off the rough edges and she got it again. It's even worse now.

So her incision is infected. She's now on an antibiotic and they also gave us a cleaning scrub to use twice a day as well. She gets to wear a t-shirt too, in addition to the cone! She's not a happy girl right now lol

I bet her mommy isn't too happy either! Glad you were on the ball and got it checked out. Makes me upset that they said it was fine the other day :tap:

I just lived this nightmare with Gigi. She didn't eat her cone, she kept running into things and breaking them. Or putting her paws on each side and working her head out. I thought she was going to be the death of me.

Just so you know, it does get better. Especially for me, I got to send my devil dog home.

Me too. The doctor we saw the other day, I do not like. When misty was in a few years ago for possible bloat, he had me so worried and confused and got angry when I didn't understand what he said. I almost left the practice all together because of him but ended up giving them another shot but only seeing one specific vet, because everyone else in there is so wonderful. When I saw my regular vet for the follow up with misty, they were SO empathetic to my frustration and really made me feel better. I was so scared it would be that same vet today when they said there was only 1 doctor in during the evening and we'd be put in as an emergency appointment... it was not him, and thanks to the doctor I saw tonight I'm not going to be as anal about who I see- she was absolutely wonderful and didn't charge us the office visit, just for the medicine. So now I can feel more confident in scheduling and saying "just not Dr. Battah" haha... I knew our regular vet wouldn't be in, he's the director and doesn't work many afternoons, let alone evenings. Thankfully we got someone nice, understanding, and who knew what they were talking about. It disappoints me that Dr. Battah is high up on the rank of Dr's too though... he's supposed to be really good but he's got 2 strikes with me and won't get the chance for a 3rd.

You know what @MyBuddy I'm not sure. Dr. Battah was the one who looked at it and said it looked good, so who knows. It's not open now, but it sure looks like there's a lump in the middle, so maybe it was and has since healed itself back together. I didn't think to show the picture to the vet this evening!

@GennyB I'm so glad GiGi is doing better! They can be a handful, huh?!? Little smarty pants with the cones! I'm so glad Mischa didn't figure out how to get it off haha! It's pretty bent up and beat up but thankfully not broken from running into all the walls and doors that she has!

Man poor little girl. :( I'm glad she's finally doing better and that you were able to see a good vet to take care of things. There's one vet at our place that I refuse to see because she's so bad and if it's an emergency I'll drive to a neighboring town instead of seeing her if she was the only option.

The lump that is underneath is normal and is from the way they do the internal sutures.

I am very fortunate and love all four vets at the practice I use. I trust them equally. I know that is not the norm.

aww.. bless her heart.. she must be so miserable and so confused...."what the hell is this thing on my neck, and WHY does my mom keep it there??" At least you know what the problem is now, and she will be fine after her meds, and can lose the cone!!! oh happy day!!!

She got the cone off sat after eating most of it, and was ecstatic lol... she hasn't bothered it much, and tonight was her last pill of simplicef. While keeping the area clean, I did notice something unusual amd stopping at the vet tomorrow. 20160515_161024.webpThere's a small hole next to her incision that has pus and still occasionally dripping the pinkish blood. This girl never gives me a break! Lol I'm so ready for all this to be over! Pray to God she never needs another surgery..

Sheesh!! Guess it's not as easy as Bob Barker made it out to be.

No it's not! Damn you Bob... lol

It doesn't help I'm overly paranoid. I'm the same with my poor kids. Every dog I've ever had has been a rescue and already spayed or neutered. I've never dealt with this before! But it does make me wonder if she's having issues healing from the spay, how many healing issues we might have had if I had cropped her...

I guess I have been lucky with Gracie's various surgeries. She never licked or chewed any of her incisions. We did however have a heck of a time getting the abscess from cellulitis on her hock healed when she was going through chemo. Had to keep it wrapped with daily bandage changes. After 10 wks. it finally healed. It was a very stressful 10wks. I was so afraid it would become infected and really make her recovery impossible. I feel your pain and frustration!!

Darn, the poor girl sure is having a heck of a time to completely get over this. :(
