Lifting suit for Tri-Pod Doberman after surgery

Max is going to have his right front leg and shoulder blade removed due to cancer. I need to find a body suit that will allow me to help him by lifting. Most of the “surgical suits” I see don’t have lifting handles. His VET thought it would be a good idea but didn’t have any recommendations. Max is 90lbs. Any recommendations?

I don't see any way to edit my initial post of the title.

After reading this my wife doesn’t think I'm being clear, so I will edit this post.

She would like recommendations for a surgical recovery suit. For a 90lb Doberman with his right leg and shoulder blade removed.

I think an added bonus would be if it had support and handles built in to help me move him in the initial stages until he can walk and get up and down on the bed himself. But thats not a requirement.

I've used a SurgiSnuggly and liked it pretty well. Others have recommended the Suitical, which I would choose next time if I had to. I think both would fit your needs. I dont' think you'll find a surgical suit that has handles. I think I'd look for that separately, something you could put on over the surgical suit--those tend to be made with fairly thin stretchy material. That should make it easier to find exactly what you need. Be careful that you don't get a lift harness that is going to rub where the incision is. Most of the ones I find online are better for hind leg surgery/amputation.

From what I've read, they adapt very quickly to the loss of the limb. You might just use some wide pieces of canvas at first instead of a lift harness. That way you can customize it to fit him properly, cut a hole for the remaining front leg, and then leave the wide band to spread the pressure over a larger area on the surgical side.

Here is a good article on what to expect: Amputation Recovery: A Complete Guide to Healing

What @Sunji said ^^^

I worked at a vet clinic in the 1980's and we did an amputation of a front leg on a doberman that had stepped into a fur trappers trap. I think it was amputated above the elbow, as most front limbs are to prevent stump complications. That dog was up and about in her kennel and could walk unassisted the next day. I think taking the shoulder blade is going to make things different than just a limb though, since it's part of the body and will change the balance. That's a good link that Sunje provided, but I would discuss with your vet the difference between losing a limb and what recovery without the shoulder blade will add to the recovery experience. There is a "help them up" harness under the recommended gear page.
My best to you, what a difficult situation. 😢
