Lame Paw

I know it will be tough to answer.. but while I wait..
My boy has came up with a lame front paw. It was gradual a very minor limp one day went to a little limp and today he is reluctant to touch it to the ground.
I dont see any wounds. There is a small abrasion around his nail but he gets that after turning in snow a lot every winter.
The paw feels warm compared to the other one.

Any ideas while I wait for vet appt

Poor Argo, this is the first thing I thought of:

Let us know what you find out at the vet.

Also to add when u had him out for a pee when he came in I was able to ask for a shake a paw and he is able to lift the leg. He can bend the 'wrist' on his own.

Our dogs have just twisted an ankle or strained a muscle if they take off running wrong so it could be something like that too.

Is it swollen or warm to the touch anywhere?

It feels warm if I touch the top side of the paw.
It is odd that it seems to have come up sort of slowly... I just am terrified if something is torn.
he does t want me to touch the area between the fingers and the wrist
so upsetting

I would definitely keep an eye on it and have a vet check it out if it doesn't start getting better.

I have had occasions where a thorn has become embedded in the pad without leaving any real sign on the surface and it causes an abcess. With the paw so very painful and warm though it is probably best to get it seen by a vet to be sure. For your own peace of mind too!

Well the positive news is he has shown some decent improvement overnight, he has been walking on it again, still a limp, but yesterday he wouldn't even touch it to the ground. I had to carry him out for bathroom breaks.
Still warrants a trip to the vet, unless when i get home he is by some miracle 100%

That was my first thought. They are hard to see or find but are so painful they won't put their foot down. When the pressure is released all is right with the world pretty quickly.
