Huge size difference... what the?

If you look just a few generations behind him he's from Dutch lines mainly, so it doesn't surprise me. Actually, a lot of dogs have similar pedigrees to him. But if he's in the UK, then he's pretty convenient to go to for stud. Those lines don't generally make for huge steroid dogs, but they still have the Euro mainland look.

I suppose that's the look I like, I think indi's litter brothers may end up more like that than her. Im not a huge fan of these sloping backs either, whats up with that?!

Not dober specific but I find working breeds look a lot.nicer (and more functional) one that immediately, springs to mind are basset hounds, working bassets look so much better. I think the danger with breeding only for conformation is the exaggeration of traits that are obviously winning (like muscle in male dobes)

Some of the sloping backs are the way they are stacked, but I have met this bitch and this is her real posture - she is not stretching out abnormally. I couldn't get over the way she walked:

I don't agree with you about working line Dobes, though. Some typical working line bitches... (I just pulled these from a search on recent litters):

Ozzy is beautiful!

OK...let's convert the standard weight to make it easier for NA people :)
FCI standard:
Weight
males 40-45kg or 88-99lbs
females 32-35kg or 70.5-77.2lbs
Height at withers
males 68-72cm or 26.7 - 28.4"
femals 63-68cm or 24.8 - 26.8".
My female is about middle of those numbers, for a male.

A dog temperament means much more to me... and I must say Gino from Betelges dogs have the best temperament I have ever experienced.

Ataro if you want to succeed in Euro show ring you need a "steroid" dog LOL

Gino has wider frame, heavier bones and Asha is more refined with longer neck and body...She is as tall as Gino but it's evident she is a female.
Gino has Eastern European look and Asha took after her dad who came to Canada from Belgium.

Gino is 86lbs and Asha is 76lbs... not a huge difference. They both ~27"

A quote. Dobermans are an elegant athlete in a tight fitting wrapper. Both my females are in excellent physical shape have a lot of bone and are between 74 and 77 pounds. My male is taller, bigger and ten pounds heavier.

To me a dog's temperament and appearance are both important. If it didn't matter, then I would have a wider range of favourite breeds!

Luckily I am not getting a male though, so I can avoid the steroid thing in the European show ring. But I find it interesting to note that most of the Rio Bianco females weigh no more than 30kg (66lb). It seems that they are purposely breeding lighter boned bitches.

By your definition of the Canadian dogs weights, however... my vertically challenged Ashra is clearly a male at approx 69lb . I'm guessing she will end up around 34kg/75lb full grown... so she will almost be a big male in Canada at only 63cm/24.8" tall??? I find this... amazing.

Aslan is almost ninety pounds and the girls are around 74 and 77 lbs. all three of them are good weights and heights with good bone. Twenty years ago in the show ring I saw a lot of tiny Dobermans but the dogs I'm involved with through breeders and friends have good bone, temperament and health tested. I think everyone has their own opinion on what dobermans look like. Movement to me is important and i think maybe some breeders are forgetting about that

Sorry I should not talk about all Canadian Dobermans as I have never been to many shows around the country. Majority of local Dobermans are light boned. Your boy Aslan looks strong and handsome. What lines is he from?

He is a Holmrum Boy. Cherie Holmes. Aslan's mother was the no one female Doberman 2006 and 2007 in the USA. Am Ca Holmrun'sRegardez

Asha's grandfather is Nitro del Rio Bianco. She is a big girl. BTW Rio Bianco lines are known to be healthier.
