Freshly cropped ears

Update?
Curious to know what the vet said
So he saw kilo and took the stitches out he removed the crust and scabs off the ear then proceeded to ask me questions as to how he was doing I brought up my concern of the smell due to reading some forums I know the ears aren’t initially supposed to smell he said the smell was coming from the silver spray he then cleaned my dogs ears and told me that he is going to need for the ears to hang another week to fully close and heal before any posting process begins he also mentioned to spray him with something called blue kote on the stitched areas

These are his ears today kilo didn’t like the stitches coming out so I was advised if I saw one I could take it out since he is more comfortable with me

Yes, that is correct. I like to make sure they're completely healed so more sores don't develop under the tape.

They look much better now that they're cleaned up.
I personally don't think the Blue Cote is necessary if the edges are healing normally.

You know…
I think you may have a good vet. Haha.

Good to hear the good news. Agree with Jan, Blu-kote is not necessary but not a bad idea if your boy gets into stuff.

Okay thank you I’m going to let them heal on their own no blue kote he’s doing so much better he’s his regular self just super duper energetic so I’m a bit scared he’s going to injure himself

I doubt he needs that cone either, even though some vets recommend it.
Really? Okay I will be sure to take it off I don’t think he’ll scratch he doesn’t seem to care about his ears as much I was told to keep it on in case he does

I would not use blu kote. It burns and will stain his ear blue. If you need to use anything just warm soapy water on a wash cloth and lightly dab to clean up the ears only once or twice a day. Let air dry.
I did not know this thanks for the info I appreciate it

Here’s a update on kilos ears

Looks better all cleaned up. Hopefully the fresh air will allow faster healing. Appears to be raw places inside the ear as well. I'd say no posting until all of the red & raw is gone.

by looking at his ears do you think he’d need another week of healing?

I agree with ditching the cone. He'll be much happier and most likely leave the ears alone. If you catch him scratching at them, just redirect him with a toy or something. You'll be doing that for a while. I'm still doing it with Annie at 5 and 1/2 months. 😉
