Ear crease help!

Hi! I just joined - this is my first post🤗 no pun intended

My Euro pup Winston is ~6 mos (27 weeks) and his ears are doing well! I am still doing full-time posts - around 5 mos the left ear was falling a bit after about a day or two out of posts, and he doesn't like only having one post in, which is why he's doing both.

I am hoping for some advice on the crease (? Pocket? Not sure what it is called!) that's about halfway down his ears on both sides (the left side is a bit more prominent). Is this normal creasing from when his ears are in "neutral" mode? Is there anything that I should be doing to prevent it? I of course don't mind at all if that's just how they're going to look, but figured I'd ask just in case. And if there is anything else it looks like I should be doing differently, please let me know! He is my first dobie and I am head over heels but despite almost a year of research before getting him (yes, I'm crazy 😅), I still feel very brand new and am still trying to learn as much as I can!

Some pictures below from this past weekend when he had his posts out for a full day with no falling (yay!), and a picture from when I picked him up just to show how dang tiny he was 😭❤️ (how has he grown so much!?!).

Welcome from Minnesota!

Winston is a handsome boy and it doesn't look like he has a pocket. What size backer rod have you been using? It looks like it could be a little too small and that could cause the crease.

He sure is a handsome boy. You are getting some great social and desensitization work in with him taking to the chaotic park and riding on a bus. Great job!!

My Freyja has them. I never thought it was caused by something as Jan suggest. I always thought it was a natural fold/crease because they bent that way when relaxed.

Thank you so much from Long Island, Jan!! I did a size up backer rod for a couple more weeks and his ears are looking beautiful

Thank you so much! Winston's ears are doing great, he just hit 7 months last weekend and is post free for now!

Freyja is just gorgeous, WOW! So lovely to see such a beautiful dog with the same ears as my Winston! ♥️
