Cut pad

I noticed that my dog has a sliced pad. Looks like an old wound, semi healed. Does this need attention or surgery?

It looks like it’s healing really well. If it seems super tender or hot to the touch it might warrant a vet visit, but I would just keep an eye on it at this point. It’s not bleeding, it actually looks maybe a week or so old. As Js said, as long as your dog isn’t licking it you should be fine. I probably wouldn’t even put anything on it.

If you do want to put something on it, I’d consider soaking it in an epsom salt bath for a few minutes and putting on a moisturizer after, I like Bag Balm.

It does look like it's healing so I doubt a vet visit is necessary unless it breaks open.

Looks good to me….healed well.

Is yours favoring it or limping? If not, then go with it.
