Custom Collars

No clue where this should go.

Ok, so as some of you know a very dear friend/brother recently passed. No clue why, but I'd love to get a %100 custom leather collar made for Kaizer in my own good way of remembering him (dogs were one of our huge common interests).

But I have no clue where to even look. All I know is I want wide leather, Marine corps themed and possibly have his info engraved on the back. Or maybe his dog tag engraved on it. I'm not exactly the creative type, so I'd be really heavily relying on the maker to just do their thing and make it awesome. I've searched Etsy and what not, but I'm not quite finding what I want. I do like the ones that have the metal things attached to them.

Helppppp. And does anyone have any clue what I'd be looking at cost wise?

Contact Chris Taylor at Taylor made custom collars. I know he has already done some military collars and memorial stuff so he can probably show you some ideas. Tell him Eric from KC Working Dogs referred you.

You guys are the best :) the idea seemed so silly at first but the more I think on it, the more it just fits. I was having a hard time coming up with a "theme" for a custom collar for him anyways, so this just seems like the right way to go.

I'll look into all the people/places mentioned. I'm starting to get a very rough idea of what I want, just need to find someone who can put it into actual form. I'm thinking tri color stitching (red, white, blue), some marine corps emblems (the metal thingies), Semper Fidelis and a copy of Ben's "dog tag' engraved/tooled on. I figure it'll be his "special pretty" collar that he only wears sometimes, because I'd like it at least 2" wide.

I see that some are padded on the back side, anyone have any practical input on that? My thinking is the padding would cut down on it damaging the hair/causing wear but would it also hold/trap heat more?

I'm thinking you're right on both accounts. I've noticed when our dogs wear the ones with padding, it is hot under the collar so to speak. :D

Coincidentally, I happen to carry an Eagle Globe and Anchor stamp. As far as stamping something personal onto the inside of the collar, 1 out of every 5 of my fire service straps request custom personalization on the underside of the strap by the chest. I am away on vacation this week, but if you are looking to put something together reach out and I would be happy to help. Below is a sample of the EGA I sent out to a firefighter in Washington DC.

Wow, how awesome! I will for sure be in contact!

Hey, has anyone purchased from California Collar Co, before? MadCow was a little too western for our liking although his work is beautiful, etsy is not my forte for some of the other recommendations, Crazy Rebels is currently closed to catch up and generally way more than I'd want to spend at this time... so here we are! Was thinking about one of the 1.25" collars with a matching leash!
