Our daughter and her 3 1/2 year old twins came for a visit last week. We had so much fun! They love coming to the country, seeing and riding the horses, but most of all, they talk non stop of Buddy! And Buddy loves them too! These pictures show what I was striving for when I bought Buddy!

Here's the twins walking out to the corral to see the horses

And here's Buddy realizing that they left the house! lol WAIT FOR ME!

One of Buddy's favorite spot to lay, right in the sand!

No one but me would understand how far Buddy has come! To remain calmly laying in his spot as children played around him brought a smile to my face.

This is what Buddy lives for!

They are always hugging him throughout the day and he just thrive on it!!

Love me!! Ain't nothing better!

Even a little boy with a broom in his hand and Buddy doesn't move! I think he really trusts the children.

Kids, bikes, brooms....all in a days work now with Buddy! I love to see that confidence !

Little girls and horses just seem to go together, don't they? ;)

And so does little boys and trucks and dogs!! I LOVE this photo!!

What you want, mama??

Somethings caught his attention!

Buddy looking handsome in the flowers!

Buddy is handsome as ever. I love the picture of your grand daughter hugging buddy.. so sweet. Really great pictures. Thanks for sharing.

beautiful pics, that show a very loving confident dog.
So I know very little about horses but am curious, why are there eyes covered?

It's a Fly Mask. When it's fly season, they are horrible little buggers, actually drawing blood. They will sit on their eyes and in their ears, driving them a bit batty. Or maybe its me that gets batty! lol I can't stand them on my horses! And they spread disease too so much of the summer we put the fly masks on. I know, they look a little funny with them on and I miss seeing their beautiful faces! :) But it's a trade off!

What great pictures! Buddy has certainly come a long way. If you had not rehabilitated/socialized Buddy after you got him, these pictures never would have been possible. My favorite one is the boys with the truck and the "wait for me!"

What great shots, and your grand kids are adorable!

You "know" some of those need to be entered in the calendar contest, don't you? ;)

As always they are great shots MB!! Buddy always takes a great picture...he is such a handsome boy!! Your Grandkids are both cute as anything and they look like they really do enjoy getting to the country with Buddy and the horses!!

I love the pictures! I'm not familiar with your boys story but I'm going to have to look it up. He is wonderfully behaved.

To make a long story short, but we got Buddy from a breeder at 7 months. He was used to his female breeder/owner and living in a house with other Dobes, pups and dogs she was showing. When we brought him home he suddenly turned into a shy, timid dog! Nothing like what we saw that the breeders home! lol Plus he was afraid of my husband to which I attributed to living with a divorced woman. It was a complete flip for him and us! It took me months to bring him out of his shell and it's still a work in progress! Holding something in your hand like that broom, would usually make him turn away! Everyday is training day. :) But I picked him for what we wanted....a pet and a gentle dog that would be good with children. I still think I picked the right dog! ;)

Thanks for the background. It looks like you have done a wonderful job with him. Everyone looks relaxed and like they had great time.

do you have a extra room, i'm on my way and i'm sure Buddy would love to have 2 brothers and one sister :)
great pic's, i just love it.

GREAT pic's.....Buddy is one handsome boy fer sure!!!! Oh the grandkids are way too cute and love how they all interact together!!!! Beautiful family you have there.....

What great photos! My favorite is the one of your grandson, his truck, and Buddy. Just such a perfect photo. Make it a black and white and it would be that much more perfect. I'm so impressed with how good Buddy is with the kids. What a good boy! I'm sure he just loved having them around.

Thank you all! We had a great time and Buddy is always so good. I'm always watchful, careful to feel the emotion whenever children and dogs are involved, but he has always proved to be a good baby sitter! He loves all the attention and especially the arms thrown around his neck on a daily basis! He's very patient and doesn't show any fear when they do that. Whenever he's 'had enough' he simply goes into my office and lays down where he can be alone but still watch the 'goings on'.

I'm trying to teach them how to make Buddy sit to give him a treat and it's pretty comical because of the 'language barrier'! LOL Buddy doesn't quite get what they are saying and I'll be standing behind them trying to give Buddy hand signals so that he reacts positively to their commands! :giggle: It's getting better! lol

My favorite thing is how I taught Bud to wait while the children and I (or whoever) is going up or down the stairs. I always had a fear of him flying past them and knocking them down the stairs so he was taught to WAIT. So now the kids always are saying, Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaait, Wait Buddy, Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaait.....lol And it's always comical too when they stop to watch Buddy 'wait' and I'll say, "Come on, lets go" trying to move them along.....and Buddy thinks it's his cue to go....and then I have to say , Buddy Wait, which makes the kids look at him again and I'll say, "Come on Bud, go!" (to the KIDS!) and on and on....ughhhhh....it's hysterical. Especially with a name like Buddy because we call the grandson Buddy too! I have to chose my words carefully to keep the kids moving and the dog staying! :ego:

Buddy is always a little lost when they leave! Back to a quiet house again. :( They'll be back again in November and probably Christmas too. :D In the meantime, I'm working on the Flirt Pole and he LOVES it! http://www.doberman-chat.com/f33/buddy-flirt-pole-8321/#post123391
