I have had one blanket sucker, Lil (Hank x Amber) was a blanket sucker from 6 weeks. I could not leave anything in her crate as she would work it to her molars and turn it into Swiss cheese. I always worried she would ingest some of it. We have one of her daughters, Catti, and a Catti daughter, neither one of them are suckers. So, I don't really think it is genetic. Just like a human baby that sucks their thumb, just an individual thing. Some do and some don't.
Me too! But I've watched him and though there are times when he is actually tearing pieces of the blanket off (not just sucking) he never eats it. He just 'spits' it out! I am forever picking up pieces off the floor! You can even see a piece in this picture! (on the left)
